As for the WiFi potential solution it will indeed negates CarPlay so if you use that then a no go solution.

Just added pics for the Android app. In the last one while the OTA was on the phone prior to upload there was an option to cancel.

Yep one of the upgrades from a few years back. Before then it didn't render the car correctly. Still sorta doesn't as has the cerium grill from the factory screw up but better than the original grey it showed.

Apparently this should work for all serial exteriors so only the folks with true custom Individual paint get the grey/white/car cover rendering.

Fwiw, here's where I ended up on this update . . .

I didn't really want it. It includes nothing that is a benefit for me, but as far as I can tell, the only way to stop the update was to cancel it before it downloaded to my phone. There is that option before it downloads.

Once it downloads to the phone, there's no longer an option to cancel it and every time I started or ended a trip I got an iDrive notification to upload the update to my car. That got old fast, so I uploaded it. And the only change that occurred was that I lost all my coding and a few iDrive settings (including my M settings).

Lesson learned.

I have the notification on my phone but haven't downloaded it yet. I don't see the option to cancel the download. Do you recall where that option was within the app?

I'm sorry, but I don't remember. But the update (trying hard not to say "upgrade" lol) notification was available in the app in at least a couple of places - the My Car page and as a notification (the bell icon in the upper left corner). Scroll all around those areas. Both bloozeman and me remember a "cancel update" button before it was downloaded to the phone.

Yep it's a bit frustrating! At least you are getting the cool down message!
It would be helpful if my(& others who are waiting too) car(s) provide specific details as to what it is waiting for!

Yes you will lose it just like I did. But Ben r33_RGSport gladly re-coded via laptop in minutes. And I got the amber side delete this time. !!

Yeah it's not going to add much in the way of new features especially if you already have lane departure turned off. I'd wait for the next one BMW just announced but that could take months before we start seeing it.

That was my thought as well until iDrive began prompting me to download the update every time I started and stopped a trip. That became too annoying for me to live with.

Guessing S2 is the default for the M1 button and the OTA reset it to that. It's odd as by and large unless you have custom coding very few settings go back to default. Remote engin start is one and I believe Drive Recorder the other at least from memory on my M850i. Sounds like a true M throws one more in.

Yep annoying. Also if the iOS app doesn't have a way to cancel the upgrade like the Android app (prior to uploading to the car) even a bigger PIA as you're stuck with endless nagging.

Now I'm stuck with the endless nagging every time I turn the car off that I'll be notified when it's safe to complete the upgrade. Guessing I'm going to have to hire some dancing nomes or something to pixy dust the car before the next drive and finally kick in the install.

I did the update today and now have errors all over the place..... 4wd system won't work and it tells me okay to drive then says don't drive than says okay to drive...... I'm guessing this will become a nightmare, off to the dealer as soon as I can.

and because of this and others---- I have zero issues of seeing a stupid warning when I turn off the car that its available.

Im just not going to do it ....

I think I'm with you on that moving forward... My X5MC had no issues with 4 updates but just one is all it takes. They even wanted to charge me to pick up the car..... the can F off for that crap. Dealer called and are taking care of it. BMW roadside sux.....

Thus far I haven't had any issues. Yes, had to re-set the remote start. And needed to re-code my codes but I knew that was going to happen long ago when I did the original coding - no big deal here, so makes me wonder...hahaha
