Cadillac prices, SHOCKED!!!

and i did just that my friend. if you read my previous posts you'll see that not only did i compare it to the top of the line BMW but top of the line Porsche (convertible) as well which made the pricing of the caddy even more ridiculous.

First of all, look at the "brand new" DTS. This is an "all new" car with a 10 year old Northstar system. Sure they updated the suspension and looks, but they couldn't come up with a better and more efficient engine in 10 years?

Look at what GM has done with the Escalade and Tahoe. The 2007 Escalade came out, and a week later, the 2007 Tahoe came out. Yep, I can see the difference between the two...having a cadillac badge on a tahoe is really worth the $20,000 difference.

If cadillac ever wants to come back and be a popular and exciting brand, they need to completely break away from the rest of GM and their usual operating procedures. They need to quit cutting corners and start hiring engineers willing to be on the edge of technology.

If I can get a Northstar engine in a buick or a cadillac, what's so great about a cadillac?

the head of GM (bob lutz I think) was quoted in the back of autoweek a few months back saying that the interior of the CTS is actually pretty expensive, it just looks cheap.

GM has cut too many corners IMO... I used to own a mid-90's GM SUV and it was not a bad vehicle. Sure there were better things on the market, but it was a quality product. The car was in my family the entire time, and I had driven it the last 6 years. 150k miles, and very few problems with it...

Since then, GM has cut corners to keep costs down and produce an inferior product. Not once have I seen GM really be on the cutting edge in the past 10 years when it comes to technology advances and innovative ideas...

Hence why I do not drive a GM now. Honestly, if they were to produce a vehicle similar in durability as my last, I probably would have bought one instead of the E90.

I would have gotten a CTS but their gas mileage is not up to par with other V-6s in the market.

Yep, me either. I hate it. But remember in the late 90s when the Cadillac Catera came out? And the new Sevilles? People were starting to say, "it doesn't even look like a cadillac" to both models. We knew it and GM knew it.

They needed a styling that would make everyone know a cadillac is a cadillac. When you see a box-shaped car coming down the street, do you have any doubts as to it being a caddy now? Probably not. But would you seriously consider buying a car with such boxy shapes? I know I wouldn't.

I think Cadillac even knew they were going a bit too far with that styling. They took their most conservative re-design to their new 2006 Devilles--practically their most prized and important model. But even so, if you ask me, I think it still looks like

Well my aunt and uncle work for GM cooperate office up in Wisconsin, so I get like a 15-20% discount off new GMs. So even knowing that the E90s styling is much better, I would have gotten much more of my moneys worth, like navigation and bose, and the CTS is bigger. But I really hate that its gas milage is almost the same as its V-8, and a BMW will always be a BMW, so in the end I got a E90, and am very much satisfied.

As stated in a previous post, I was a previous GM owner. I could not ask anything more from the vehicle I owned. It was a 1996 car, and was before GM ran into some of its current problems.

Now there are some serious issues with buying a US made car. They cant compete with the foreign auto makers, and part of it is styling... They are all boring...

The other part is their build quality and innovation has severly suffered. I just wish that GM would stop trying to make 300 models of cars, and focus on less of them, but make them that much better. More people would buy the cars, and they wouldnt have some of their current issues...

Especially with how happy I am with my BMW, its going to be a while before I own an American made car again....

I completely agree. I've got an open mind, and I'm not the kind of person to say BMW is better than any other car, blah blah blah.

I'd have no problem buying an american car if they were better. I would welcome the chance to buy an american car. I'd actually like to say I drive a cadillac--if they were made, and drove, and were everything like BMW!

Its funny... My family has always been a Chevrolet family. Cars in our family were great. We held on to each car for a long time (10+ years) with the exception of one... I had a 1996 blazer, and my mom had a 1999. The '99 had so many engine problems it was rediculous... They even had an engine transplant, and it still had problems...

Now here is my family lineup:

Dad - 2005 LS430
Mom - 2005 RX330
Sister - 2001 IS300
Me - 2006 325i

Notice any changes??? Whose the oddball in the family

Its the image they are looking for... I remember reading about how they designed the new cadillac to have more chrome parts than the previous...
