Headrest LED Always on NEW METHOD

Ok guys, gonna post this so hopefully those of you with new M8s wont struggle like I did. I have a 2024 CC M8. The old guide with green wire is no longer how this works. First off, this only needs to be done on the DRIVER side. No need to touch the passenger side. And you do NOT need to remove the seat just put it all the way back. Then unplug battery open hood just like before. Removed the yellow clip and access all the wires. The move here is a JUMPER wire from pin 7 (blue) to red/blue big wire. Just a simple 26 gauge wire. I soldered but you can probably just feed the wires down into the clip and it will stay. So you are not removing anything permanently, just jumping from blue to red/blue on driver side only. Voila, they stay on. This took 4 hours of trial and error so I hope it's helpful!

Ps this keeps the lights on for 30 minutes after car is off. Is this the same as others using older technique? I assume since they are just 2 tiny LEDs they wont drain battery?

Yes,confirm even with previous model year.
Stay on 20 minutes after.
No problem at all.
In the night is cool to see seats led on when you leave the car.

I had this done today and it's so cool. FYI my car's door handle lights stay full-on while the headrest lights are on. Is anyone else noticing this on theirs?

You mean the exterior door handle lights?

Would also be curious to know if this is happening with others who have done this mod?

Would love the headrest lights to stay on but not the door handle lights....

Yes - my outer door handles lights. Excessive electrical, so far, doesn't seem to be an issue.

Hmm....wonder why that would be if you connected these per OP's instructions when none of theirs' are?

Could it be a welcome light option in IDrive? Maybe some of you have door handle lighting selected in IDrive and some don't? I can't think of any other reason this would be occurring.

Perhaps. The connection, method and execution were straightforward & easy.

It doesn't bother me at all, the way it is. I'll try to flip off the welcome lights later and see if it works.

Toggling the Welcome Lights off and no has no effect on the outer door handle lights.

In fact today I noticed in my GC, the rear outer handle lights are subtly visible in my side mirrors.

For now, I think I’ll use some tape to cover the lights until a much elegant solution presents itself.

I’m out here trying to do this now.
How do you remove the yellow clip?
Also does the clip then stay off after you plug it back in? Or do you put the yellow clip back on first?

Updates & addendum:

So far the battery draw is negligible, especially when cold-starting the car in the morning.

I taped over the lights for each of my exterior door handles. Note that each handle has 2 light sources - one that shines downwards towards the ground (puddle lights) and another one that illuminates the door handle cavity (ambient light). I was informed by my local shop, who performed the work, that these lights could possibly be coded-out. We'll find out this weekend.

I forgot to share that we performed the mod with the car battery disconnected. During the process, the subject connector was unplugged both at the front driver's and passenger sides. After everything was reconnected & restored, we got an airbag fault warning - likely from disconnecting & reconnecting the built-in airbags inside each front seats. We were able to reset the light through OBD2.

I'm not sure if the fault goes away from normal driving otherwise...

I hope all this info is helpful to those w/ an interest.

Wait so you literally put tape on the door handle? Let us know about coding it out. Another idea is to just pop off the door handle and disconnect a wire that makes them light up.

Any updates on door handles? It is kind of annoying that they are always on. Considering taking handles off and disconnecting a wire
