Question for those who went from M4C/M5C to M8C

Did you feel any difference? I mean driving wise

Thanks

Just turned in my m4. The m4 and m8 are completely different cars. I felt the m4 was a tuner car, for a much younger crowd. It was meant for the track. The m4 is much more raw, noisy inside the cockpit, rattles etc. but it was a blast to drive spirited

The m8 is a refine grand tourer. Still fun to drive and be very comfy. You get a different type of attention in it. As expected for a 160k price tag

The m8 is more similar to the m5

Also huge difference between the I6 and the V8. The 8 has instant down low torque the 6 does not. But the M8 is way more luxurious than any 3/4 series vehicle

I am more interested in the tuning of the competition version of both cars.

I have no reference for the non comp. my guess is better ride and minimal difference in performance.

By minimal difference in performance you mean the M5? M4 in any flavor is a slowish car, isn’t it?

My m4 was a comp and I tune all my cars with full bolt ons.

But as I mentioned they are much different cars. Them8 is a sophisticated large coupe. Extremely fast, very comfortable and handles pretty damn well for being so large. It’s very quiet inside, allows me to conduct my business calls without telling my clients I’m driving and excuse the noise

The m8 will get more looks than the m4 if that means anything to you. Doesn’t for me. Rather not draw the wrong attention

Only thing I miss of the m4 is the size sometimes. Nice to rip around corners like a go cart. Can do something similar in the m8 but just larger but equally as planted.

The m8 is a amazing car. No regrets

Had M4 Comp then got M5. The M4 although obviously slower I enjoyed much more.

M4 felt like a go cart, steering feel, tossable. Dumped the M5 after 3 months and only put 399 miles on it. Wasn't my deal at all and the looks were too pedestrian

Only 400 miles? I’d take more miles just finding the settings I like best

What did you end up with now?

It just left port. I was driving a RR Sport for last 9 months. C2S didn't see any value in paying 7300 for awd being only diff in 992 between 2S and 4S

Neither lack for grip post almost exact 1/4 mile times, track times etc.

I don't live in a bad weather state either

Makes sense. Here in MN our AMG GTC sits in the garage for 4+ months but $7500 is excessive for just AWD

Congrats

Exactly my thoughts.. outrageous 7300 and only diff awd

In past 911's, The 4S got you a lot, more options wider body, not in 992, just awd and 7300 lighter pocketbook LOL

This is holding me over until August / sept 992 Turbo. That's the plan anyway

I meant comp vs non comp. M5 and M8 have rubber bushings vs solid bushings on M5c and M8c

You will never notice 20-30hp on a 600+ hp car.

I tested M5 non-comp and it wasn’t as responsive or as tuned as my M4 comp. that’s why I wanted to know how people felt when putting M4vsM5vsM8 comp and not comp vs non comp.

My M8 comp although not fully broken in can snap your head back at the light. It starts up loud and makes itself known to anyone nearby. Sometimes that's a bit annoying but that's the comp. my X3M comp is similar in that it is very responsive but only after a chip tune and/or in sport or sport plus. You should drive them for yourself.

I forgot to add, drove a M8 on a 10-15 min test drive. Looked miles better than M5 imo. Drive was very similar as M5 although there was a slightly more toassable feel to the m8.

Still nothing like M4 Comp (not meant to be) but slightly better than M5 In terms of toss ability. Straight line performance was insane but again just wasn't that fun for me.

For what I wanted didn't do the trick so left BMW for now For what they are M5 (sedan) and M8 (I like the coupe version) are amazing vehicles. I actually love the M8 has real presence but again driving wise was looking for sports car not a sporty GT :-)

I moved up from M4 Vert (F83) to M8 Comp. As I mentioned on some other thread, I did have a proper test drive before ordering an M8; now as I have it I enjoy it more and more everyday. It's just better in every direction, being both more faster (cornering speed as well) and far more comfortable.
