The MS power steering pulley is machined differently in order to allow for off the shelf belts to be used, rather than proprietary belts.

Just spoke on the phone with you - the pulleys provided replace both the stock crank pulley and power steering.

Just installed a dinan pulley...couple of things.
You may have some trouble getting the fan out since there is a clip that holds a hose which won't readily come out. Bottom of the fan... The hoses... You don't have to get under the car to reattach the hoses in their clips. You do have to remove the center idler pulley because you can't get the belts off due to the silver pipes... You'll need to keep turning the bolt, there's a retainer ring between the engine and pulley that prevents the bolt from sliding out once it is unthreaded from the block... I would highly recommend removing the upper radiator hose to get the fan out unharmed. I broke the clip...removing the radiator hose is fast, pretty easy and spills only a small amount of coolant. I would use a bag or something under the hose and opening in the radiator to keep things neat. Otherwise, took me about an hour which includes fishing out a socket that I dropped.

Did this today on my two M3s.
The install instructions really should have torque specs. Additionally, it says we will reuse the crank bolts. That is not the case. New, shorter bolts are provided. EAS, I know this isn't your fault but it would be awesome if you could remind RE to add these details |

I have had an Active Autowerke pulley waiting for years to install. It is time to do belts but I can't find any intructions. This DIY has no visible images for me, either.

Thanks! I thought there were some special instructions with regard to special tools and a vibration damper behind the crank pulley, but there is no reference here. I don't know where I saw that.

I have bought the RE Pulley kit for my track day toy, which is a 2008 DCT car, but it seems that it can't work on this car as it spins the p/steering pump the wrong way.
Is my mechanic doing something wrong or do we have the wrong kit? I thing the build date of the car is March 2008. Last edited by peter de la mare; 12-11-2017 at 03:49 PM.. |

You probably just need a different belt. If you have an extra pulley, don’t use it since it is the same as you have now. Just use the rogue crank pulley and order the correct belts.

Thank you, this is confirming exactly what he suggested, I wasn’t sure but as you’ve said the same thing I’m happy.

I bought new belts earlier this year and called rogue to ask the sizes but cannot remember them. I may gave them in the garage. I think I bought from autohausaz but am not certain. You can cross reference belts among gates and dayco and others.
