Don’t want to speak for someone else, but he may be referring to the general inadvisability of runflats if performance is important to you. Considering the cars we own it’s safe to say performance is important, so runflats are a mortal sin. My wife has runflats on her X5 but I would never put them on my M8 (or a M850).

I didnt catch that nuance, but the sensitivity around replacing a tire is real. Who wants to spend more money on the car. And runflats that come stock on the car can be problematic. Seems they go off a lot quicker with age. Not sure. In my experience, and I’ve bought a lot of tires for my M8, best performing tire is the Cup 2. No comparison, but you can’t run those everywhere. Falacy may be the PS4s are sooooo much better than everything else. I guess so says those that test them, but it’s really splitting hairs. I say that because surprisingly, the Michelin Green Alpin X A/S tires I bought for my M850, when wifey caught a nail in the run flat, actually turned out to be excellent tires. They are a bit stretched on my M8s 810s but I only run them Fall and Spring. Last Fall, I ran them on the track in the rain. This Spring, I ran them on the track again because I wanted to burn them off. I couldn’t do it, but couldn’t get any heat into them either. Overall, what a great performing tire. Otherwise, the tread difference on the fronts of the Hancooks I’m running now is 2/32, which isn’t bothering me a bit. One more track day on the fronts and they’re done.
