Post Dinan M850i (N63TU3) flash now available!

I didn't think/know the N63TU3 could run full E85 on stock fueling, but that appears to be the case with some pretty serious performance increases! Flash is only applicable for model year 2020 (pre 06/2020 build date.)

Garage List
Thanks for sharing and I now finally have a plan. Unfortunately here in AZ they killed off E85 with 92 octane the best average pump has available. I say average as there are a few boutique gas stations with 95 and 100 as an option.

Reading the stage 1 they can map from 91 all the way up to E85. So my absolute ignorant question is if I did the 91 map I should get a bit more performance vs the 93 stated specs. But if I had them do the 100 octane map if I need to fill up at the typical 92 pump vs the boutique stations (one not too far from the house) then what happens? Is the engine going to ping like crazy or cause other issues?

I can always in general fill up at the boutique stations the vast majority of the time but on road trips or immediate necessity for gas will putting in the 92 octane cause serious issues with the stage 1 set for 100 octane? I'm a neophyte in this world so any advice would be greatly appreciated. 👍

I thought Dinan was Carbahn?

I hope this retains the remote start feature, if so I am in!

So Steve Dinan sold his company and started a new one which is Carbahn. They still work together and it's common to see very similar items on both store fronts.

Maybe Dinan can tell Steve how to enable the remote start feature on his tune??

Why is this tune only available for the 2020 models? What about later years? Is there a difference between 2020 vs 2021/22/23 engines?

That is when they switched to a new Bosch ECM that is on lock down for most tuners.

Thanks!

But didn’t BMW acquire Dinan? One would think they would unlock the ECU for their own mods! I would love to get this mod…

Actually when Steve sold his company BMW stopped authorizing Dinan parts. BMW did not buy the company. My local dealer now will install Carbahn parts and warranty them.

Hey guys,

Is the info on this table real? It's showing the M850 tested by Dinan at 558HP/576LB-FT. Why would BMW market this car with 523HP/553LB-FT? Is that why on the instrument cluster shows 560HP/560LB-FT on the right side of the display? Thanks

Per my local Dinan dealer:

Just confirmed with Dinan that the remote start is not going to be lost. Only feature that will be changed up is if the auto start/stop will default to the off position but that’s the only thing that’ll change for original features.

Looks like the flash itself is $699.95 and figure time for removal of the DME and shipping cost for sending it to Dinan for the unlock you’ll end up with probably another $240 for labor and a quick ship. I usually tell people anticipate the car being immobile here for a couple weeks due to transit times and unlock times. Great gains for just around $1k though!
