Drone is highly subjective as you will agree. What one man deems to be annoyance, I might associate it as engine noise. In this process I really dont find there to be much low level "drone" just an increase in the internal rumble/exhaust noise at idle or at lower cruising rpms.

My best subjective thoughts are the car is the same unless I rip it up to higher rpms or downshift to create more bangs.

I have a DME tune and downpipes (no cats). I notice more exhaust note at the exhaust axle back but also more exhaust note closer to the engine. With approximately 800 hp crank that power/torque and exhaust will be displayed for sure.

But my car doesnt have primary catless down pipes nor do I want them- way too loud. Nor do I want to have an ECU tune to remove the CEL. We all know that primary catless creates crazy noise up stream too.

My posts are about a more docile approach for the masses.

Thats why i appreciate your post so much, its my wifes daily and when she said she wanted it louder she made it very clear she wants nothing to do with it if it sounds anywhere near as loud as my prior full cat delete F80 M3, or how i surprised her by fully straight piping her cayenne turbo a few years back lol


And fully agreed on not needing primaries, dont want to deal with CEL and the JB4 is more then satisfactory in terms of added performance.

My M8 is anything but docile but I also do not want drone of any kind. Removing both sets of cats can create drone and slight vibration. I have not been satisfied with my current setup and on Wed. will be driving back to Houston to have one pair of cats reinstalled. This will solve the drone and engine vibration.

Reinstall the primaries (Im sure thats your decision as well). The secondaries as you have heard in my video with the removal of the resonator create a nice balance of external roar yet internal cabin comfort.

This thread is awesome, thanks for sharing! My two cents: I think it sounds perfectly housed with just the Resonator delete. It has my kinda crumble at the end of the exhaust note and it probably snarls like a wild boar when out in the wild. Resonator + Secondary Cat delete really does up the drama though. It's asking for attention and definitely getting it.

We tried that--- doesnt work on the current M8 cars. Its coded in (soft limiter).

Well this is the fastest bang for the buck exhaust mod you can do. All in one day if you choose. And cost is around 1500-1600 depending on your shop (resonator and secondary cats) and their pricing.

1500-1600 after buying the pipes (just bought them from Ben)? Yeesh. This car is a disaster. It needed so much money to be drive-able regretting it and it hasn't touched my driveway 😅.
