Lane change during assisted drive

Spent my first day with my M8 today and for the life of me, I could not get it to change lanes by itself during assisted driving/cruise control. Is this feature not available on the m8 or maybe just mine?

Thanks in advance!

With my M850i it will only work on major highways/freeways. I recall reading somewhere that is geographically dependant too. Some countries get more features than others.

Those are all of the requirements to get the lane keep assist to work in the first place, right? If it was holding you in the lane just fine to begin with, then I can't think of anything that might restrict only the lane change. It should just be the short/not full movement of the turn signal, a full movement (switching the turn signal on) would cancel the driving assistance completely. Of course, it's only going to change lanes where you have dotted lines, that's the only restriction I've come across in my X7 at least, but if you time it right (don't try too early), I haven't had any issues getting onto an off-ramp using the lane change feature.

If you have individual paint on the M8, the lane change assistant is deleted

Unfortunately, I don't know the exact reason. It puzzles me too, but that's what happens with individual paint

My understanding is individual paint issue is sensor related. Need for paint specific safety testing/approval?

Seeing that its a paint issue- I might guess that the coding for this is actually there but the paint itself causes sensor issues. Maybe you can code it back on (if possible) and see if you crash in to someone LOL.

It's just not the M8 itself but apparently any model with 5AU (aka Driving Assistant Professional) will have the lane change assistant feature deactivated. When I was considering a couple of true Individual options for my M850i, e.g., Verde Ermes when utilizing the Individual Visualizer the attached warning popped up in regards to the lane change assistant function. Interestingly BMW applies an additional code (8TR) to negate it.

Makes sense, I mean, something like Vantablack is going to refract light very differently than something like Bieber's chrome wrap. You would think they could test some extremes, determine if the color is near a certain curve, automatically calculate the data, or come up with a QC test, etc. They probably know exactly what to do, but there's likely some sort of archaic hard data submission requirement.
