A bottle that actually fits.

I practically always have water on me if I'm on the move for more than 20 min, so one of my biggest gripes with the M8 has been the lack of a decent bottle holder. I can't stand opening the cupholders if I don't have to, a small coffee at the start of a longer trip is about all I'll use them for, they really don't offer enough support for enthusiastic driving anyway.

After realizing a normal 12 oz bottle fits decently standing upright in the front portion of the door, I figured there had to be something out there. I wanted something insulated so it didn't get condensation all over, and didn't want a random leaky thin bottle from Amazon laying on its side in the narrow pocket. With a normal disposable bottle having a diameter around 2.5", I found the 9 oz swell bottle is 2.6" in diameter and fairly short as well. Sure, its small, but it really fits perfectly. A bit snug sliding in, but not enough to have to flex the pocket, and once in place, it has enough play that you don't have to force it out, but could barely even rock back and forth.

Okay, done with my rant, now go ahead and quote that last bit endlessly, it was hard to not put any intentional innuendo there myself.

I love small victories like that but 9oz's isn't enough to get me out of my driveway. I use this yeti in the center cup holder. It fits perfect and is short enough that it doesn't block any buttons. It also has a clever lid with a closing mechanism that takes care of the enthusiastic driving problem.

Thanks for the Yeti suggestion. Any chance of a photo with the mug in the console?

Yes but it's going to have to wait a few days I'm in Dallas and we are having some crazy winter weather. But once I get in I'd be glad to.

Does it move at all under hard braking/accelerating/corning? Aside from not liking the lid to the cupholder area open on a regular basis, that's my biggest concern. I'm not as worried about it spilling, I could manage to drive carefully enough when it has liquid in it. I just don't want to have to take a hand off the wheel to make sure it doesn't smack up against the trim or anything when it's empty.

The lid closes with a very clever mechanism. Once it's in the cupholder I can drive like I'm in a video game and it's not going anywhere. Again sorry I haven't posted pics but just Google Dallas weather and you'll understand. I have had 40 minutes of electric in the last 24 hours
