Thumbs up 2019 Range Rover Coupe (Sexy AF!)

Is it impracticable? Sure. Is it Sexy AF? ABSOLUTELY!

Quote:
The folks at Land Rover just unveiled what they’re calling the world’s first full-size, two-door luxury SUV, the Range Rover SV Coupe!

Far more than just a standard Rover with two doors removed, every one of this vehicle’s exterior panels is new, save the lower tailgate and hood. It’s even dressed up with new bumpers.

Eight standard paint colors are offered in either gloss or satin finishes. But for drivers that want something a little more bespoke, 16 optional premium hues are also available.

Four different wheel designs are on the menu, spanning from 21 to 23 inches. For maximum bling, this is the first Range Rover to ever offer rims that large.

Giving this sultry-looking SUV plenty of performance is a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine matched to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. With 557 horses and a maximum of 516 foot-pounds of torque it can launch this stately rig to 60 miles an hour in as little as 5.0 seconds. It’s unclear why you’d ever need to bury the needle, but top speed is 165 miles an hour (265 km/h).

The SV Coupe features an air-suspension system, which, naturally, provides an adjustable ride height. Its body automatically lowers 15 millimeters at speeds of 65 miles an hour or more for enhanced aerodynamics. Aside from its variability, this Range Rover’s suspenders have also been retuned to supposedly provide a more driver-focused feel.

But even though it should be sportier than ever, the SV Coupe is still a Range Rover, able to drive through nearly a meter of standing water and tow more than 7,700 pounds. Ruggedness comes standard.

Underneath that pretty bodywork is a permanent four-wheel-drive system with a two-speed transfer case, locking rear differential and more off-road stuff than I care to mention. Suffice it to say, it should be a beast in the dirt.

And exceptionally refined, too. Pop open one of its power-closing, frameless-glass doors and you’re in for a treat. Seven curated design packs will be offered in the SV Cope. They feature special paint colors, bespoke badges, and unique interior materials. A new type of trim is also offered. The company’s Nautica veneer fuses walnut and sycamore woods together (does that mean it’s plywood?) for a unique look.

The 20-way adjustable front seats are draped in semi-aniline leather that’s gussied up with a diamond-quilt pattern. The rear chairs move in an impressive 10 ways. Brightening things up, light pours in from the panoramic glass roof.

On the tech front, Land Rover’s InControl Touch Pro infotainment system is offered, with a 10-inch control panel, 10-inch screen and 12-inch interactive driver display.

The Range Rover SV Coupe will be hand built at the firm’s SVO Technical Center in Warwickshire, U.K. No more than 999 copies will be made.

Priced from about $300,000 in the U.S. The Range Rover SV Coupe is slated to go on sale in the fourth-quarter of the year.

I love it. It's like James Bond created a new modern Ford Bronco. I really wanted and Evoque with 2 doors but the engines offered were just shit.

I wish they offered vehicles like the Porsche Macan in a coupe/2 door version.

It's a truck, not a car. But it's actually kind of similar to the original Range Rover, so it's cool.

Nothing wrong with an RS6, but it also can't go off road, clear major snow or transport royals.

We are considering a VELAR for my wife's next vehicle this Spring.
Anyone here with previous experience and or knowledge of the brand and product, chime in...

Are you really trying to compare those cars with a Range Rover?

There's no better vehicle to have to drive every day than a Range Rover. I didn't fully "get it" until I used one as a daily. 5 years ago, I'd have nice SUVs because why not or because my GF wanted one, but I still chose to daily a coupe. I've since grown up. Most of the "anti-SUV car enthusiasts" eventually will, too.

This one won't. Ever.

Once petrol prices go through the roof -- and they will, particularly when demand decreases because of EVs, etc. -- SUVs will fade from favor. How else do you explain why they aren't nearly as popular almost everywhere but the U.S.?

That said, I like two-door SUVs ... you know, as SUVs go. The original International Scout, Jeep, and Suzuki Samurai -- all groundbreaking vehicles in SUV evolutionary lineage -- were two-doors, and even the original Range Rover was a two door-only vehicle for the first decade or so of its existence.

Some might even interpret this as a return to roots. I sure do. Things tend to come full circle, you know.

OG G-Wagens were coupes too. My folks had a four door Trooper with a manual and getting that thing deep off road on Jeep trails always required serious three point turn skills. Narrow trucks blazed the trails, but patient, wider trucks could still get it done, slowly.
