A two door coupe at 30k (or 60k or 90K) doesn't make sense for a lot of people either , as most will prefer a 4 door.

Except for BMW fans in America, because there's just no need for a sedan the size of a 1er or 2er lol, right BMW NA ?
In US everyone was to have big cars. Lol

I remember in Europe mine friend bought ford 1.3 liter diesel 45hp and was happy as you can be

Yeah... need to go back on race track.

Looking to get M2 racing and new M3 as DD.

I will still keep X5 for family trips.

F80M is as big as a car needs to be IMO. Even the G80M is getting too big.

Notice the M8 driver compartment looks cramped in the video, might be more head and leg room in a Prius. Also really curious how good (or bad) is the outward driver visibility.

Hopefully this sells well for BMW. The M8 will be a cool sight out on the street but I'd bet this is like an M6C: low volume sold, sits a long time on dealer lots, massive depreciation hit to first owner. That said if this is a car for you at least you won't see very many on the road.

I have to say, it looks nice. I think that length will make it tough to live with, though. And it's a pointless kind of length because it's not like it has massive cabin space. And the BMW engine is fairly compact too

I like it, but at the price tag, it's a tough sell. The AMG GT is a better 'gentlemen's' track car. The engine is...the S63. Thé weight is obviously it's biggest downside.

As much as I want an M8 and love the design. The M6 was the correct price. The price jump for negligible performance and luxury gains? Why?

A fully loaded M8 Competition will reach close to $170,000 USD MSRP.

Who in their right mind would buy a BMW at that price point that will depreciate at least 40% of its value in 36 months?? Leasing is a different story, but still to have a lease payment over $2,000 dollars per month is crazy when you can lease so many other cars for similar lease payments. There are so many other choices in this price range. An LCI Audi R8 comes to mind at this price point, and it has a V10, which will go out of production in a few years, making it even more special.

In just a few short years time, the NA V10 will no longer be in production by any car manufacturer. The V12 is struggling to stay alive as well.

Suspect the looks and exclusivity will be enough for some. I was eyeing the fake M 8 series last week at the dealer. Videos and pics don't do the 8 justice, imo. It's exceptional looking.

Also, AMG GT as any form of track car, come on dawg. *EDIT: nevermind, I was thinking about that big 4 door deal. Can't keep their models straight.

Personally with modern suspension and braking weight is just not what t used to be in terms of making or breaking a track experience. The M5 brakes from 100 10 ft sooner than the Civic type R and the Miata and takes for Lateral G forces. Of course you'll be buying expensive pads way way more on the fat pig BMW than the other light weight cars.

Im gonna say both the AMG GT and the BMW M8 are competing for the gentleman drivers track day cars. luxurious, eye catching, and most importantly extremely easy to drive at the limit vs a 911 or Lamborghini which spin a lot easier. That's Flaschs vision of the M8 anyway.

If Caterham and Lotus were smart they would slide in to the market that BMW and friends left and make some 2500-3000 lbs $50-$100k cars.

I doubt the 'hardcore'M crowd wants or needs all the fancy traction controls and electronics that drive up the cost, and all the lux feautures that drive up weight.

But as far as BMW is concerned sports cars don't sell these days without pig fat tech and luxury added in. And the active sway bars, turbo engines, and rear steering make up for the extra weight.

The looks alone are worth trying to get a test drive in the near future. And if the interior is at least approaching what we might expect as "normal" for BMW or other German brands, then GM is going to have a home run on its hands.

I saw an interview with the lead interior design guy for the C8 Vette, and he said there's 0 plastic on the interior. For the base model.

If true, that's very different than the typical approach...I am excited to go and see one, whenever that happens.

For the M8...I am just not in the target market for this kind of car. The price tag is nuts for a BMW and I think the F82 is too big, so this is just...not anything I would want to own.

It might rise in value, but I highly doubt it will be a collector's car.

Rise in value, I doubt it. Simply as you noted "mass produced".

The C8 will most definitely be a homerun. GM will see first time Vette buyers from people who are normally BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche buyers. I'm personally waiting for the C8 Z06 which will be out in 2021. That will be my next "new" car. Other than that, I was waiting for the G90 M5 which will be out in 2025 maybe. But only if the next M5 is drastically different as the F10 was to the E60 and the E60 was to the E39. But I'll be enjoying my C8 Z06 in the meantime.

All the track specific options for who? I highly doubt any buyer will be taking this thing to the track.
