I say go for it if you dont need a car with 4 doors etc. The Ferrari 360 is a stunning car, it really is. There are things I love about the 360 that the 430 doesnt have. For example I prefer the clean rear look of the 360 than the overly-fussy rear of the 430. But still, the 430 is a brilliant car, has great presence on the road...check my sig

The car in your sig is a 430? Oh shoot, I just saw that last week in a garage. Thought it was a 360.

Speaking as a former owner. Here are my thoughts:

1. You definitely need a second car to drive to those places where an F car wouldn't be appropriate. You'll need something to drive to the supermarket and when it rains. I had a BMW 328i as my beater, but any car will do.
2. Ferraris are expensive to maintain. Major service is around $7500 for 8 cyl. engines and an oil change is about $500. A clutch is @ $2000 and may need to be replaced in as little as 3000 miles.
3. In spite of what you believe, a BMW is more reliable. For example: 360s eat window regulators at a rate of @ $800 a pop(a bargain.) Most parts are made of a substance called Unobtainium and are @ 5X the cost of the equivalent BMW part.
4. That car is long out of warrantee. $100k is the bottom of the price range on a 360 Modena and might indicate it wasn't properly maintained or has expensive issues that need to be addressed. At any rate, make sure you get it inspected by someone familiar with Ferrari mechanicals.

The good news is, if you buy from a Ferrari dealer and it passes an inspection, Ferrari will give you a basic 1 year used car warrantee.

Having said all that, I think everyone should own a Ferrari at least once in their life.

Definitely has to be a second/third car. My advice would be to find a Ferrari message board and seek sage advice.

I would love one. Hopefully one day.

Good advice.

Yeah, if you're really trading the Bimmer for the reliability issues, then you're in for a big (and expoensive) surprise...

If your BMW is your only car and your main concern is maintenance, then you should stay away from a Ferrari. It is an amazing machine, but requires fairly frequent and EXPENSIVE service to keep running.

I met a guy with a Ferrari 360 Modena and he told me that one of the preventive services cost about $6000. Imagine what it would cost if something actually broke!

Bottom line, if you get a Ferrari make sure it's a 2nd or 3rd car. Better yet, post this same question on Ferrarichat.com and see what they say.

For your daily driver I wouldnt have a ferrari, definately going to be much more money to maintain. I can think of alot of other cars for 100k or less I would rather have brand new, m6?? Maybe even some sort of porsche.
