8 Series possibly being discontinued in 21/22?

This was posted on another forum and by a master tech who I'd imagine works at a BMW dealership...hope it's not the case, but if so glad I'm leasing.

Really hope you're right.
It's also been said MB may discontinue the S Coupes around the same time.

Automobile Magazine published an article (https://www.automobilemag.com/news/w...tegy-products/) back in July stating something similar including other models supposedly being axed. Although I leased my M850i for 3-years (with MSDs I was able to lower the APR to 2.23% vs the 3.35% being offered BMWFS) with the intent to buy it out at the end I'm not concerned. The engine is core to many M models now and will continue on regardless. Also, US Federal law requires automobile manufacturers to supply parts for 10 years after any model is discontinued (cost of doing business in our market).

you should read the entire thread there is absolutely no love for the 8 series there at all and it was just one persons opinion well wet dream. Also that automobile article said they were axing the 2 series gran coupe? why even announce it?
Think that this is a tad premature .................although since sales are horrible it is an inevitably

Definitely read the thread (discount the haters in love with the 850csi and 6 series as I love my M850i regardless) and agree on the premature of the Automobile magazine article. To your point any business is built on supply and demand with the lagging sales on the 8 series it may see an untimely death but I'm golden with the parts (Federal law) and the core engine being tied to the overall M strategy.
