There is no way 2020 M8 would go for that. It defies common sense. There is no desperate needs for dealership to get rid of M8s. If M8 can go for that, people better be getting 20% off plus rebates on regular BMW non M cars.

I say I don’t get a Flying F what you think or anyone else that doesn’t believe me. Point of my post was to talk about my new car.

I hope none of you guys ever get m8 and If you do you pay top dollar for it

But for all those that were polite to hit me up through PM and ask for the details they might chime in. But mostly like not cause they hogging that info for themselves and getting a great deal

Everyone on here giving OP grief is way off base. I personally confirmed this deal with a dealer.

Why on earth would he post a lie, come on

This is the internet after all . Then he/you should simply share who that dealer is for all here (why pm's only?), as no one else on this forum has posted a non-trade new M8 actually being purchased with that kind of discount. The rub is, it makes no sense for a dealer to do so with a new non-demo 20 M8 and especially with it being a new model that literally just came out.

I believe a lot of this is market induced, i.e., # of dealers and willingness to deal. Here in AZ there are only 4 BMW dealers and in reality only 3 given one dealer owns 2 locations in Phoenix. The dealer in Tucson is an absolute non-player in the M market whatsoever.

That said if you are willing to haggle, have cash and good credit any dealer will entertain your offer and specially on a FEA. Throw in the fact that they know if they make you happy the back-end of the shop (aka maintenance over a 3 year lease or longer for ownership) will make more $ than the initial sale.

It's the long game that will always win over the short term. Have used that to my advantage numerous times whether negotiating personal purchases or on my job with suppliers. The key is a win-win in all negotiations.

So you think that you can sit here and question my integrity and actually think i will help you out? Not sure what planet you from but that’s not how it works

Go to back to the 3 series forum. It’s a better fit

Of course it makes sense...these things are not selling well! Auction prices are at upper 70's/low 80s for 2019s for low mileage 850's. Talk about depreciation!

We're talking about 20 M8's not M850's. The M8' JUST came out, 17%+ $3k is simply nonsense at this time and misleading.

It's not nonsense or misleading. On a $120k MSRP car, it is selling for 97k or so (granted, not all dealerships are aggressively trying to sell the 850). That same car is 77k wholesale the next year (2019 version today). Where is the confusion with this? Pretty simple. The hype was last year. Not so "new" this year so a higher discount this year. They couldn't even sell it for full price (or even invoice) last year!!

The next few years will only be worse. Wait until year 5 when these will be discontinued (yes, they already announced that these are going to be discontinued). These will be 30k off sticker. Residuals will be 40% after 3 years. Don't believe me, just look at the 6 series, which was actually a wonderful car with a timeless design (unlike the 8).

Agreed and went full in with my custom 2020 M850i order knowing that common sense would say walk away and eat the non-refundable $2500 deposit (checked and fully enforceable here in AZ vs other states) to buy a deep discounted 2019. Problem was nothing met my specs and I was not willing to compromise on a car I've waited several years to buy and discounted all of the competition (Lexus LC500, Tesla Model S, Porsche Panamera, etc.).

Upside is with MSDs I ended up leasing as dropped the APR to 2.23% vs 3.35% BMWFS was offering. My intent is to buy out the car as I'm already in love with it but at the lease end I will indeed consider a M8 CPO as long as I can find one that meets my specs (including B&W audio). For the buyout if the 55% residual does not hold true with the market (expect it to fail) I already have a close friend on board to buy my M850i no matter where it lands (I'll pay for airfare and other costs as I expect them to be inconsequential to the difference of market vs the residual).

I can fully believe the 17% although our local dealer will struggle to go above the $20K they offered.

2019 M850i's on the other hand are so cheap that one wonders if it wouldn't make more sense to get a coupe for $1k a month and get a tune...

M850 lease payments would still be in the high 1200 a month with tax depending on sticker but of course no cap reduction. I had looked a M850i and it didn’t do it for me. From what I remembered the sticker was like 120k and they took 20k off. Residuals still at 55

The M850i isn’t a M. Those have driven both will know instantly. Not just the extra power but it’s the subtle differences that’s worth the difference in price

I was able to get $27k off, plus the $3k rebate, on a brand new M8C on the lot, so 17% off and then the rebate. I do have a good history with the dealer. I love the car.

Totally agree with this. The M850 was fast but I found it dull. The M8C is far more involving.
