Traded the F30 for the F-Type, one month review

So as some of you may know my lease for the F30 came to an end and I looked for something that wife and I could agree on after looking at the new 5 series, Cayman, RS7 ( I know all different type of cars) and the Jag, we settled on the F-type S AWD in BRG. After one month and putting 2000k on it here she what I think of it.

PROS,
looks, I'm not sure if there's another car in this price range stunning like the Jag. It's one thing looking at videos or pictures of the car but in person it's got a presence and few cars can compete with. BRG is a beautiful colour for the F-type as it's very understated but packs a lot of punch.
Sound, my goodness I thought the sound of the 335 was nice until I heard this beast. The engineers at Jag have done a masterful job of tuning the exhaust and I can't get enough of it. It's obnoxious when you want it to be and civilized around town not to frighten the children.
Interior, it's miles better than the F30 with zero rattles but I really liked the new five series interior as well so it's a toss up.
Engine, zero lag due to the supercharger, it keeps wanting to go and is happier in higher rpms, the power is not available as early as the F30 but it comes real fast and pulls as much as you let it.
Wipers, rainsensing wipers work way better than the F30 as there's more available sensitivity range.
Driving, it feels a lot more solid than the BMW. no jumpy feeling at all kinda sticks to the road.
CONS,

infotainment is from the early nineties it seems and not in the same league as the F30. Really missing the I drive . NAVI is not accurate and I find myself rely on my phone a lot.
Not much trunk space to speak of but ok for short trips
Very very heavy. You really feel the weight as you go around bends but I knew that going in so it's an adjustment.
It's a pig if you wanna daily it on short trips.
Visibility is not good so the vision package is a must for this car. You can barely see anything out the rear window.

So far no issues , keeping my fingers crossed.

Overall I'm very happy with the choice, getting used to the stares and all kinds of questions people ask me when they see the car...

BRG is a stunning color! I wish it was available for the F30 (without a $5K up-charge for individual). We are looking at a new SUV for the Wife and she has really taken a liking to the F-Pace...Hope to hear a long term review in six months. Thanks.

It's definitely not slower than the F30 considering the extra weight it carries. I just find there's a lot of theatre with this car which adds so much to tte driving fun. Suspension is better tuned so it feels safer in higher speeds and pulls way harder to a point where you slow down to avoid breaking any laws. I like the fact that you can set the steering, shocks and throttle seperately in the dynamic drive something I wasn't able to do in the BMW. I set the suspension to comfort but throttle and steering to sport. You can also customize the exhaust and have it open or closed which is a bonus IMO

CONGRATS!! And you got the "correct" color for a Jag. They really knocked it out of the park design wise for the F-Type. I think it's one of the most handsome sports car on the road today. If I didn't need 4 doors, the R would have been nice, but at over $105k its a bit of a stretch. That's Porsche territory.

Thank you, I agree BRG is the correct colour for this car. I did test drive Porsche Cayman and a 911 ( I had a 911 for five years back in the nineties) and although they're nice and feel they're superior engine and steering wise, none compared to the pure fun that the F-type brought to the table. Also the fact that they're rare and don't see them often played a factor in the decision to go with the Jag. Don't know what to Expect long term but from what I hear over on the Jag forum, most of the little problems have been addressed so hoping to have a semi reliable car for a few years.

Congratulations. Just a beautiful car. Please don't be offended, but it reminds me of an Aston Martin shape but with a more elegant grille. The Aston Martin grille used to be elegant until Ford ripped it off and put it on the ford fusion and other models. Rant over and back to the topic. The F-type is visually stunning.I can see why you are getting head turns and questions.

When you do a pro and con comparison, it makes sense because you came from an F30 so its natural to compare. But, your new car is twice the price and in a different league weight wise and size wise. I know you bring the new 5er into discussion but your car is even more expensive that that. Isn't the F-types BMW rival more like a 6er?

I test drove that car --because I love the way it looks. Sexy as hell!!!

I walked in wanted to test drive the M/T and they didn't have one. You have to put down a deposit and they order it for you.... lol So basically you have to buy the car.
So, sadly, all they had to drive was the A/T But it's not bad at all.

But I did enjoy that great exhaust note you were describing. Great car

Yes true, it's more expensive than the F30 but really not much more than the 5er fully loaded. Now if you get the R which has 550 hp, yes it's on par with the 6er, weigh and price wise.

I agree, there are not many to choose from unless you order one and wait a long time for it. Jaguar doesn't make that Many F-types I believe the total sales for north America for last year was something like 4500 as opposed to like 100,000 F30s? I'm guessing that number btw. Yes it's a niche market but I think that adds to the attractiveness of it

Congrats! Also wanted an F-Type instead of the 435i, yet there was not enough legroom for the driver in the Jag. Reminded me of the early Miata where i loved the car, the handling, the feel, etc yet there simply was no way for me to sit comfortably

Great car that Jag F-Type, enjoy!

ADDED: Am referring to R version.

I know what you mean, I'm 6ft, 200 lbs and fit ok in there but any taller and you'd probably have a hard time with the leg room. Speaking of Miata, I do have a mint 90 that i drive occasionally and love very much. Here's a picture of both together.

Congrats, hope you are enjoying and for years to come. May I ask, why this over a M4 or perhaps a 550i?
