When watching the map version you can clearly see the M850 really pulls away on the final straight, nice.

Whoever thinks that the Bentley is better looking than the BMW M850i needs to get their eyes checked.

The real M fan boys would not like to hear this. Supra also dusted M2C in his hands in the same track

The M850 is quite a nice pkg indeed, especially considering the real HP is close to 570 from what I read previously on this forum via dyno results. Wonder if the M8 are underrated by as much, or its stated output is closer to reality?

Never been a fan of the Bentley's looks, but to be fair the interior is much, much nicer than the M850's.

Taking even my M850i ownership partiality out of consideration and I would still have the same sentiment. Then again I've never been a fan of Bentley styling and at their price I have at least a half dozen other cars I chose any day of the week.

M2C as well but a less of a fair comparison given the HP/torque differential.

Agreed. It looks, feels twice as expensive as the 8 series, and belongs in a different class.

I’m a bimmerhead, serial M owner and all that, but that car is something else. I can’t help but think the 8 series is a wannabe, not special enough.

But what do I know, I can’t afford either so clearly I’m not in the demographic.

How is it a wannabe? Looks better, drives better, is faster and more reliable. That's what I call a better car.

Of course, I can speak for myself only......I have instructed my wife that if I were choose that Bentley over M850i xDrive as my next retirement fun car, she must have me certified and placed under legal custody.

Now, if you really really must have genuine solid burl walnut trim in your car as opposed to having a faux wood trim, then I can certainly see you paying $100k more for the Bentley.

And both cars use real wood too. Both veneer. Both 0.6mm thick...
That said. Bentleys veneers are stunning.

Another pointless track "test" video from MT. Neither of these vehicles belong on a track. Both are large GT cars that belong on hwy 1 in California. The m850 needs an update in that interior. Throwback to the old 8 series...I get it...but it doesn't work. Not in a 6 figure vehicle.

Looks worse (that stupid grille, those pointless creases and folds, that stark interior), those extra 0.2 sec nobody cares about, etc.

Everything you said can easily be turned around, just on preference.

I love BMW but the Conti GT in my eyes just plain looks more elegant, simple classy lines, and the fit and finish (of everything, from the shutlines to the paint) is vastly superior. The 8 series has the same paint as a 1 series, and that’s not a compliment.

And if you want reliability don’t buy a BMW.

Comparing Bentley CGT's to BMW M850's is kinda silly to begin with, oranges and pineapples. An M850 isn't even considered a poor man's CGT, for the most part essentially two completely different kinds of cars/buyers/demographics. The true comps for an M850 are the LC500 and possibly MB S560C and Maser GT Sport, that's about it. If Jaguar still made the XKR it would also be a direct competitor.
