2020 8 Series HUD Brightness

One thing that is seems off with my 2020 M850i coupe is the HUD brightness while driving during the day. Granted here in sunny AZ my mileage may vary from others but I have the display cranked all the way up and the HUD appears to be washed out especially when driving towards the sun.

I can always seem to see the current speed and speed limit indicators but if I scroll the right thumb wheel to change the Sirius XM station (from my list of presets) I can barely see the display in the HUD that opens up to the right of the speed info. Taking into consideration I never have this problem while driving my wife's 2017 X5 I optioned with the HUD I'm not sure if it is a problem with the HUD display controller or just the angle of the windshield (worlds of difference between the X5 and M850i).

Any other 8 Series owners having a similar issue? The HUD controller should be the same across the 840i, M850i, M8, M8C and the GC variants.

Just a FYI that I've figured out the issue, i.e., my highly polarized Oakley sunglasses. That said I think it is the windshield angle of the M850i vs my wife's X5 as I do not have the same issue when driving the X5. Bottom line is going to have to live with the M850i HUD washout as the Oakley's are king here in sunny AZ.

Easy fix , heat reflecting mostly clear window tint like 3M crystalline will make the HUD appear even with Oakleys on .

Actually found the same issue with mine and the abnormally large display. Actually was blocking my view. There is an option to shrink the display. Been using that

On my X5M I was able to rotate the HUD image and that helped me to see it with my Oakley polarized lenses. I don't have my M8GC yet and so don't know if that is an option.

Rotating the HUD is definitely an available option.

Yes it is and just catching up on the posts now so will give it a shot tomorrow if we get a sunny day (last week has been overcast and rain).
