M #10 for me- 2020 M8 Gran Coupe Competition!
Yeah man it is gonna be a long few more weeks!
Hopefully parts for my x6m show up soon so that build can keep me preoccupied. When did you get the rear carbon roundel? Did you do it for the front too?

So waaaaaaaaaaaay back when I was more poor there was a place called Bimmian that sold carbon fiber sticker overlays. I got a nice assortment back in 2009 for my E90 M3. Well I was cleaning out my office the other day and found the envelope with the stickers; so I said fuck it and applied them to the blue on the front and rear roundels.

Hey Vic are you on the lowest setting on the KWs?

Yeah Im maxed, KW doesnt allow it any lower. From what Ive been told they are worried about the overall chassis height to the ground. I could drop it further without the helper springs but that could lead to the main springs becoming dislodged on severe road bump impacts.
Optimally Id like to be about 10mm lower maybe but this is fine and the ride is so good. Yesterday I hit 164 mph before the limiter shut me down. I had zero idea I was going that fast it was so smooth and stable. But I found out I did not get the M Drivers Package LOLOLOL. Which raises another question; if the limiter is set at 155 then the "standard" 5% speedo error is intact for BMW (164x.95) But why didnt it shut down at 155 since the speedo is what its based on? Or is there a gps?

The setting in KOMBI is called BC_V_KORREKTUR and should be set to NICHT_AKTIV. The former disables speed correction on the digital speedometer and thus displays the true speed. Though I have yet to test it on my M850i. |

So I can have the speedo corrected via coding?

If available on the M8, that will be in the instrument cluster (DKOMBI.X) labeled as BC_V_KORREKTUR. On G series models the options should read'mit_korrektur' or 'ohne_korrektur'. In this case the 2nd setting is the one to apply in order to have the true speed shown. I guess Ben can code it remotely for you. |

After upping the tire patch to 295s some years ago, I found I had to revert the coding to stock to rein in the delta between the speedo and Dragy (assertion implied: Dragy is more accurate than the car assuming it has enough sats). |

Yes with some models there still may be a minimal difference even after performing the mentioned coding. As said in my case with the F32 it was 2 km/h. With the E92 I had before that, they matched perfectly though (GPS vs. Odometer). I used uncle Tom for GPS measurement as back then I had no dragy. The idea is to be as close as possible to real speed so coding it definitely helps. A slight variance is one thing (2 km or say less than 3 mph). 10 km/h or 5 miles or higher as standard is definitely off for most to accept. Personally I like to have it that what I see is actually what I am driving. Indeed altering tire setup vs. stock may affect speedometer readings too.

Your might've missed my point, though (or not, just clarifying ): the increased tire width implies a larger tire wall which increases rotational circumference and inadvertently brought the native speedo much closer to actual speed. |

Indeed altering tire setup vs. stock does affect speedometer readings too (resulting in being either closer to actual speed or further off) based on changes made and on their extent with regard to tire width and sidewall.
