I am not a big fan of the 8 series, but this looks really great. And i just figured out why. Every 8 series has the M pack on it, which gives it the typical BMW air intake which spoils the look of the front. This one has the trapezoid inverted, which feels much more natural with the rest of the front. Let's be honest here, the 8's face is heavily inspired by the AMG GT. At least the basic lines of it. But then that air intake ruins it. Here the M8's air intake follows the AMG GT and the 8 Concept and it all works well.
I remember one poster saying that the 8 looks better without the M pack and now it all makes sense. |

Curiously though, the Gran Coupe used to have the same wheelbase as the F10 5 series, but the new 8 GC has a 3023mm wheelbase (vs the F90 M5 at 2982mm which makes it closer to a 7 short wheelbase I think, perhaps this is why the SWB G11 7 isn't available in the states?

Riiiiiight, because the original 6 is the one he was referring to. Not the one from 2018, the one from 30 years ago. 🙄 GTFO with that BS.

This car aims to strike a balance between the two extremes. Unfortunately, the steering sucks nuts. I drove it at a local BMW event and [like nearly every BMW] the powertrain is killer, the styling is beautiful, the ride/handling balance is on the sporty side, but the steering is feather light.

The chrome outline emphasizes the mammoth kidney grille. Not a fan, certainty for an M car. The M8C is the one to have between the two, no question.

5er has in the past been cheaper than 6er 3 series cheaper than 4er Sedans are cheaper because BMW traditionally has charged more for fewer doors as they feel that the coupe styling is worth more. This extends right into the X lineup where you pay more for the swoopier styled and less practical X2, X4 , X6 than the X1, X3, and X5 respectively. |

Pretty much anyone who orders a M8 comp. my coupe has a MSRP of just over $170k. Look at the prices of the S63 coupe/vert which are more like $160/180k to start and you know. Add BMW service, a very reliable daily driver (compared to say Aston Martin...) and you know. My M6 never gave me a single issue in 50000miles.

Unfortunately the window sticker doesn't tell the whole story.
Drivers Assistance Pro gives you ACC, active lane keeping assistant, side collision avoidance, cross traffic alert front (cross traffic alert rear comes with Driver Assistance), steering intervention for blind spot (steering intervention for lane departure is in Driver Assistance), rear collision prep, evasion aid, and intersection warning. It's quite a lot more than just the Extended Traffic Jam Assistant. |
