Interesting. Mind PMing me details? Wife's lease is up and we are cross-shopping a few brands.

I've been wondering about the remaining lease payment forgiveness as I get closer to end of lease on my G30. Know others have mentioned before their last 3 payments being forgiven. Was yours through BMW Financial or the dealership?

I've talked to two dealers and they didn't promise they could get my last few payments waived. But fortunately, I'm actually in a slight equity situation with my lease. I have 4 payments left and the dealer offered me 3k over my payoff right off the bat to just give it to them on the spot. I'm going to wait; however, and try to trade it in towards my new lease to get the equity plus tax savings at least in Texas.

So like some have said before, get an appraisal for what your car is worth right now. They might just buy it off you and you could end up pocketing some cash. Or try to trade it in as part of the lease to lease deal like I am.

If they just waive the remaining payments, you may be leaving cash on the table.

BMWFS suspended the "pull-ahead" program a few years ago. That covered the last 3 payments on most models and up to 6 for certain models. I think anything offered now would be something by the dealership.

When I got my car, I still had 3 payments left on my F80. I had originally planned to keep both cars for the 3 months since I was getting such a good deal on the M8 to take delivery on 12/30, and did all the negotiations without consideration F80. The day before delivery, I asked if they could work something out because insurance on a third car and other things were goin to be a hassle, and the dealer agreed to "cover the remaining payments". I thought they were a bit crazy when they said they could make it work without affecting the numbers, but when it came down to signing, I found out they did so by buying out/ trading the car rather than doing the lease-end turn in.

They held onto the car for a couple months and ended up making about a grand extra profit on that end. With the used car market what it is right now, I'd imagine many dealers would be happy to entertain a trade on a leased vehicle as you may be close to having some positive equity anyway.

This market is pretty terrible for new car buying. Ive talked to 5 dealers in dallas, KS, and nebraska. No one is interested in discussing below MSRP outside of the national promos...No tax credits, no negotiating. Even on Demo cars, getting offered only 1k off msrp.

Used car prices might finally be rolling over, (https://publish.manheim.com/content/...-LineGraph.png)

I hope Q3-Q4 will start to see deals getting made..

Interesting.

What are people seeing on cap cost reductions on M8 leases now?

I just got a "vacation" home in another country but I will be spending a lot of time here and my M8 back in SoCal is not needed any longer.

I suppose swap a lease is an option since most new leases are underwater for most of the lease term but not sure about that now. Any data on selling these to places like Carmax? I presume bmw dealers are low balling like always.

Ive done 2 swap a leases...If you want out, its easy, and if your payments are below 2k, you have a good deal. There are only 4 M8's now listed on swapalease in all of US, and one is 1200/mo with 9k upfront, presumably to cover the lessees Cap reduction to get to 1200

Yeah my payment is pretty low with 30k off cap cost (leased in November 2020 when deals were good) and I put it on swap a lease in early June and got 5 inquiries within three days but pulled the listing since I decided I was going to leave the country. I guess I could put the listing back on but to avoid the hassle, just sell to Carmax or BMW dealer. Just curious if anyone has tried a trade in recently.

Compare the lease and buyout figure at dealer rates with what they're prepared to offer. Of the latter is greater than or equal to the former, et voila. Doesn't tend to work out that way very often, though.

Yes agree. I dont have desire to be showing people my car so thats why i though i might try a dealer just to save me some potential hassle. I'd pay a dealer a little to let the car go rather than make a few bucks dealing with 10 people coming to my house before i find someone who wants it and qualifies to take over the lease.

Posting your lease terms might help garner interest, too.

PS: I've sold maybe 10/11 leases now, nobody ever saw the car in-person beyond FaceTime chats etc. Each car moved within 4 or 5 interested parties; I'd guess the majority went more quickly.

You put $30k down on a lease? I'd do the same if I knew for sure I wasn't going to total the car in the next 3 years and lose the money.

Haha no way. I never put anything down. I got $30k off msrp for the cap cost component of the lease.

I ended up trading in the M8 for almost exactly my payoff to the dealer that I leased the M8 from....as they also happened to have the exact used car I wanted so it was a no-brainer.

After a couple months I am so glad I ditched the M8 for the F85 X5M.

Says he updated it but I"m not seeing anything. Don't know if that means it's the same as June or what but hasn't been updated that I can see since then.

Wow, $30,000 off is quite the discount. Was that with the old starting MSRP around 160k or the more recent 130k? The MSRP did recently go down 30,000 didn't it? I swear I remember the M8 starting around $150 - 160k.

Pricing an M8C coupe now comes to ~$133k for me where as before it's year hiatus for the coupe it was up around $150-160k right? How much discount are people seeing on that $133k price?

It was a high option M8 coupe non competition donington exterior and black interior. To me the comp was not very comfortable and I while I like the louder exhaust at times, the crackles and bangs on decel were a deal breaker. Anyway the discounts on comps at the time (fall 2020) were around $15k and so $30k off a non comp was fantastic. MSRP of mine (see pic) was $143k.

Pricing an M8C coupe now comes to ~$133k for me where as before it's year hiatus for the coupe it was up around $150-160k right? How much discount are people seeing on that $133k price?
I spec'd my old M8 build for build and it came out at $19K less. That was a while ago but I'm 99% certain on the delta $$$-wise.

Did they ask for a night with your wife and your left nut too? These lease rates are ridiculous. Enjoy the car though!
