Will there be another M8?

I just got my current M8. Only thing I will change on it is to eliminate the bucket seats, not as much fun to get in or out like it is to stay seated, or look at if from outside the car

But much like my old AMG (2021 E63s), I am feeling the pinch of what am I going to get in 2026??? I really like the M8 and actually wouldn't mind driving it longer than the lease term (3 years) if I can swap out the bucket seats (meaning get the same car minus that option).

But I have been hearing there will not be another M8. Any word on that?

The M8 is going away like the early 90 series 8.... The word is a full electric 6 will replace it just like we are seeing with 4 and 5 series. BMW has given up on say a V12 super car along time ago. The 8 was the last great go for a BMW high end ICE car. It is sad IMO....

Forgot to add the reason I said V12 was the concept M8 was a V12 but now it will fall to a 6 series full electric and a V8 hybrid like the 5 series. Sorry on a flight and phone access kinda sux.

As long as they package the M5 engine/hybrid system into a coupe, I do not care what they call it. I will be down for that

That is indeed the rumor which actually holds water as the coupe/convertible are slow selling regardless of brand at least here in the US market. I've come to grips that if I want another 8 series coupe it's likely a 2025 regardless of another M850i or the big brother M8C.

Have fun with that but I'm pure ICE or no sale whatsoever. Obviously my opinion only so others may vary. I've already done it once, i.e., walk away from an EV that could smoke my M850i but the soul of ICE is what I'm looking for.

If I'm ever more or less forced into an electric boring car, that's the day I no longer care anything about cars. If it hasn't got an ICE it might as well be a golf cart. I'll keep my ICE's til we have no gas left. Fuck it....let everyone else save the planet. I gonna rev til my hearts content.
Glad I'm in my mid 60's honestly. Some of the future world looks rather fucked anyway.

I can save a lot of money on cars when everybody goes electric because I’m going to simply buy cheaper Japanese EV’s that are reliable.

After all, why would I bother with a BMW or a Mercedes, etc when everybody is using the same drivetrain? Electric motors are electric motors. Zzzzzzzzzzzz…..

Yep.

For me, this hobby is over. No way in hell I’m going to get a EV version of an M8 or M5 when friggin Hyundai and these other companies will be offering the same thing for half the price

I paid for the V8.

This is exactly how I feel. No more M8, 2 door, gas powered, V8... I'm done.. I will keep what I have. BMW won't get anymore $$ from me, especially for an EV.

The most I would do is Plug-in Hybrid.
After owning XM for a month, it has its perks.
Such as;
- Leaving early in the morning on full electric and start up the engine around the block.
- Turned the engine off to electric when I see a cop next to me.
- The instant torque on full throttle, ICE can't come close to it.

But, full EV, I will never settle to it. It is so boring. Fast, yet boring.

I have been driving BMW’s since 1985 when I bought my first 325i. Sure I have ventured out into the Alfa and 911 world from time to time, but I have always loved BMW’s 4’s and 6’s. I can live with the current mild hybrid systems. But when they go to full electric I will no longer be a buyer. The engines have always been the heart and soul of performance cars to me. The cars have become much larger and more luxurious, but what has always kept me coming back has been the engaging driving experience. Electric motors don’t provide that, to me. So as long as I can get gas, I’ll be driving old ICE cars….

The weight will too high for it to be anything other than a straight line Madonna. The weight will destroy tires.

I fear the demise of the coupe for BMW in general, not just with the 8, but I have zero desire or need for a sedan. I'm hoping whatever this rumored 6 series replacement they could out with comes in a coupe, and is maybe a few inches shorter than the 8. I do love owning a V8 and don't think I'm ready to go full electric, but I could be talked into a hybrid.

I've looked around at coupes outside of BMW like Porsche, Lotus and Aston Martin Vantage, but none of them offer the whole package of sports and daily driver that BMW does.

Sadly given the 6 series available in certain markets is a GC from my understanding I doubt the coupe will see the light of day. I checked out a Vantage as was interested in what is to to be the last V12 for it. Besides having to explain to my wife that I've totally lost my mind on the price alone I just decided I'll continue to look elsewhere due to the sticker shock alone. 😜

Well I was looking at the "cheap" Vantage that starts at $143k, closer to the M8. Although I have no clue what the things I add cost because the website has no prices.

I guess we're all looking to grab the last ICE's we can. At lots of car guys are doing that very thing. Buy now or never again maybe. I hope to keep mine for 10 more years. I don't daily drive or winter drive it. so it's possible. By then I'll be an old goat who doesn't need 617 Horse power. What I'll do is trade it in on one of those bus motorhomes The kind old guys all drive down the highways with really thick glasses.
Like a Greyhound, but with a much less competent driver. Me!
Doing stuff like getting the misses to take over at 70 mph so I change my depends. and get a tea.

I think thr new m5 hybrid will be fine cornering despite the weight given now they are using the 48v battery for active roll stabilization like the new XM
If you drive the new XM you can tell it corners very well for the weight and it brakes welll also
The only thing i did not like is how the new powertrain feels in the XM
It is like confused and not smooth so hopefully they fix it for the m5 with some tweaking

Isn’t roll stabilisation more of a sticking plaster to some degree? It’s fixing something that perhaps wouldn’t be as necessary with a ICE?

I’ve not long bought a m550 and this was my last chance to get both a v8 and a bmw I like as not a fan of basically any their new designs and anything with idrive 8 or later

This is intended to be my last car and I intend to drive it as long as I can but the creep to stop us driving things like this has literally just gone a step further in the last couple of hours in the U.K. with expansion of a ultra low emission zone being expended next month across pretty much the whole of London

The day will come when I will have to pay everyone I take the car out

All the fun int he world is being slowly taken away in various ways. I hate to say it but in motoring and other areas the best days I fear are in the past

Yes and No, it's almost necessary due to the way legacy manufacturers are building EVs. But look at Teslas, they have no need for that and they are some of the heaviest cars on the road for their size.

Model 3 Performance outdid the M3 coupe on a road track (talking pure numbers not feel) for example so they can handle well
