Hard choice 335i coupe or 135i

I just saw a Montego 335i coupe and man that car looked so awesome.

I am really on the fence on getting a 135i manual with sport, heat, premium hifi, comfort access, coral leather, and iPod/USB. for $40.5k. Or the 335i coupe manual with sport and heated black leatherette for $42k with an average discount. The 335i coupe comes with the Logic7 stereo and power seats standard. I really don't need the extra room. But every time I see a 335i coupe with the sport package I almost break my neck looking

I don't know what to do:iono: The price diff isn't that great. But I won't have leather, comfort access and iPod/USB if I get a 335i coupe.

A nicely equipped 135i coupe or a 335i sport coupe with heated black leatherette:iono:

I would look at price last if it were me. Make a list of pros/cons and see which one has more pros. That would be my suggestion. Good luck.

If you like the looks of the 335i over the 135i it should be an easy decision. Is this a car you'll get now or would you wait to get it?

Well my plan is the same. I will order a car around Feb 09. I priced out the 335i coupe manual in Alpine white with the sport package and heated seats with the price increase. MSRP will be $43,725. I know the dealers will discount the 3 series much better then the 1 series. I figure I could get the 09 335i with the options I stated for about $42k+. I understand driving both cars is what I have to do. But finding a manual in either car let alone both to compare will be very hard. Does the 135i really feel that much better then the 335i coupe? 0-60 isn't much different. I am used to FWD cars so I figure a 335i coupe with a manual and sport package will be better then what I have been driving. The other question is the leatherette seating surface. I have seen a 135i with the black leatherette and it was really nice. I was also really set on the 135i sport in Alpine with Coral leather and 4 other options. I don't know??? Call me crazy, but its hard.

Personally, I prefer the looks of the 335i Coupe over the 135i (flame suit on!).

Heck - spend $65 bucks on a passport, talk to Irv - get an ED invoice + price, schedule the pickup for off-peak season, go to Munich, drink a beer, drop the car off and fly home. Save a few bucks and take a quick trip to boot. Off-season airfares should be really cheap.

Looks: Subjective. Personally I think the Audi A5 wins this one.
Engine: 335/135 Same
Brakes: 135 wins
Steering: 135 wins (Must get the sports package. Best steering wheel and feel ever)
Shifting: 135 (you are getting the 6MT, right? Feel is too cushy but you won't miss any shifts. Throws in 335 are way long)
Interior: 335 if you need a back seat. Must get the cold weather package in the 335 to get the folding back seats.
Value: Assuming they start discounts equivalent to 3 series, 135 (unless resale tanks)
Fuzzy Stuff: I like the shrink wrap feel of the 135.

That would be great. I am 50% German and have always wanted to go there. I wonder how the 09 335i coupe will look? I saw the sedan. It just seems everytime I see a 335i coupe with the sport package and those awesome 18" wheels I say "HOLLY SHIT" I seldomly see them around here. MANY non sport 328i sedans around here. OH well, at least I have 249 days to decide. DARN.

For sure getting a manual. I didn't know the throws were longer in the 335i coupe. Thanks for the input. When my time comes to order, what is on the lot will also have alot to do with it. But finding a 335i sport coupe with leatherette and heated seats will be like looking for a needle in a HUGE hay stack. In Jan/Feb 09 dealers might have more nicely equipped 135i manuals on the lots. That would be great. Don't need a back seat. I am going for just looks when comparing. I really think the 135i sport looks great, I just think the 335i sport coupe looks better. SORRY brothers, I still love the 135i. :w00t:

YAH I agree they sell so many in the USA it shoundn't be too hard. Like I said I have to wait until next Feb to order whatever I decide on. I am really curious how the 09 335i coupe will look? I have searched the web and can't find anything. But info is out on the 09 sedan. I was interested in the 335i sedan, but the next car I want will probably be my last and first fast RWD car, and I decided it must be a coupe. Such a huge change from my 04 TRD Tundra crew cab Limited 4X4 I sold in May 06 for a new 06 Silver Accord EX V6 NAV. Then came the new silver 06 Acura TL NAV in Aug 06. Then the new 07 silver Acura TL Type S in Dec 06. And finally my current Black 07 Civic Si sedan which I bought in Aug 07. The first manual I have had in 15 years. Its so much more fun. My other 3 silver cars were automatics. My friends and family talked me out of manuals with them.

My next car must be a coupe, fast, RWD, manual, and great looking.

The new Nissan 370Z is supposed to weigh 200# less at about 3,000# and have a 350hp 3.7 liter, also shorter.

I was in the market for a 335i as well. At the dealership and in picture I liked the looks of the 335i better.

I didn't noticed how hot the 135i looked until I parked my car at church (next to many other nice cars) and looked back. Hot damn! It stands out much more than a 335i.

Thanks penny. It is a great looking car. I always second guess everything and always do too much research. Price and options are also much to think about. Plus I really love the Coral leather which I couldn't afford on the 335i. The price of the 335i coupe goes north very easily.

What's to decide, the 335 is alot more car for the money, plus, it's elegant, essentially, it's just as fast as well.I've driven one, they are rockets.

Noooooooooooo Jeff your a 1addict.

I like the size of the 1er as I have an E46 325Ci. The new 3 series is a bigger car. Not saying that is not a great car, it is. But, there is a jump in price and I like the look and size of the 1 series. It has to be a 135i tho for me.

The 135i is still in first place for me. I just like the 335i alot.
I just didn't like the "Whats to decide" comment. Plenty to consider when buying a car. I think the 335i is out of my league and where I live. Many people I know and work with would give me a real hard time if I get a 335i. The 135i can be had with many nice interior options for less then a mostly stripped 335i.

I also think the 335i might feel like a pig compared to my awesome handling FWD Si.

Thanks for the input brah

The question remains, do you want comfort and size, or do you want to DRIVE?

Your answer to that will help your decision.

And who cares what the neighbors etc. think, it'll be your car paid with your own hard-earned friggin money!

Size I don't need. I want to drive. I guess that answers 66.66% of the questions.

I will choose in 248 days.

i havea 328 as a loaner with sport package, and although not the 335, the handling is likely similar if not better because its lighter than a 335. and i gotta tell you, the feel and handling doesn't compare to the 1er. to each his own, but the 135 just has so much more rigidity and feels small and tight. the 335 coupe does look sexy though.

Don't forget that if you've been a BMWCCA member for over a year, you get a $500 rebate on the 3, but none on the 1.
