Wheel & Tire Insurance

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey Guys...

Just wondering what everybody is doing in terms of Wheel & Tire insurance. Two dealers have quoted me CRAZY numbers. One was $4000 the other was $6000

Are there any good 3rd party options out there? I'm coming out of an Audi lease and I have multiple claims so I'd rather not roll the dice.

$1795, 5 years, 2 sets of tires and cosmetic with 0 deducible. The
dealership had a rebate that they applied to the wheel and tire coverage.

Agreed. I was quoted $2640 and if no claims against it a 40% refund at the end of my 3-year lease. Granted here in AZ that is one set as no need for winter tires but regardless what you are being quoted is BS. Full disclosure is I'm still deciding on the coverage as the F&I guy at my dealer said I could pick up the coverage if I decided to do so in the next month (and of course have no pre-existing tire/wheel damage).

I paid $1,895.00 for 5 years for tire and wheel insurance with no deductible. At the time when the finance mgr. was quoting me. He did mention that the insurance company wouldn't even sell it in NY because of the road conditions and all the claims.

I had no issues for 6 years ( 2 leases cars) with them. I had to change the tire 3 times in one year and they didn't say anything.

How does it work? Just pay upfront and get reimbursed?

my dealer is part of their network, so they did all that process. But if the dealer is not part of their network (most BMW dealers are part of it) you pay and get reimburse from them as I was told. check with your dealer.

I was quoted 4k and passed. I probably should have got it, but since it's our 4th car and a convertible, we don't drive it much and usually not banging on it.

Just get the Discount tire certificate and self insure the wheels. You'll never spend $4000 to replace damaged wheels over the life of a car.

I knew about their road hazard certificates on tires you purchase from them but did not know they will insure other wheels/tires not purchased directly from them. Thanks as going to check into that.

Hi folks, I'm amazed with the cost of tyre & wheel insurance some of you folks in the US are quoting. I purchased my M4 Competition two & a half years ago. A set of 20" 666 wheels & my winters 19" & tyres were covered for 4 years for £450. No costs for repairs. I'm often in US and notice many things are cheaper eg fuel ! However many things eg Health care are much more expensive. This it seems now includes tyre & wheel insurance

sadly US roads are some of the worse especially in the snow and rust belt regions. The south it is better. Back in the day the insurance was $400-600 but with each subsequent car and the larger and more expensive wheels the price keeps going up. I ended up getting it for around $1300 but that was dealer cost and part of the deal.

They will insure tires on any car so far as they are not worn and they will certainly insure new tires on a new car. I have blown out 10 tires on my M550i and they have always replaced them hassle free. I will never buy the dealership policies again.

The dealership will rarely refuse your request to change tires/wheels as they actually would later charge BMW for that and get more than even.
