Does anyone happen to know if the ceramic brakes options for the M8 are just for the front or are they all 4 brakes?

Some of the m5 reviews report that the initial bite of the ceramic brakes are a bit touchy and "almost pushed the driver and passenger into the dash"

Can anyone comment on the feel of the m8 brakes vs the standard steel brakes?

I just got my car and have less than 200 miles but I like the ceramic brakes. They are no more touchy than the normal steel M brakes that I had on my X5M...plus no brake dust.

I test drive them and they are awesome. I cheapskated out of them, but they were nice.

I agree with noushy the only draw back is the price. It's a big chunk for a consumable item, but it's probably worth it.

Don’t have them on the M8 but AMG. They will appear a bit more grabby at first but that’s due to the brakes not having been bedded yet.
CCB’s also like heat and may brake a bit more poorly on a cold morning until warmed up.

Best brakes money can buy IMO and a bargain at $9k as they are subsidized by the manufacturer. Actual costs are over $20k.

Do a search on bedding/burnishing procedure to optimize the brake setup or just keep driving.
Biggest mistake people make is to brake too light and ride the brakes. Hard braking takes care of squealing

And no brake dust as already mentioned! Worth the money for that alone! Rotors will last about 100k miles on the road and proper maintenance, making them cheaper than steels over time.

Exactly as the price of the Brembo kit is about $25k for front and back. Manufacturers buy large quantities and also they don't have to provide the steel ones.

I have CCB and they have proven to be very efficient both on the street and at the track. No fade/overheat, super predictable etc.. In addition I recommend opening up the brake vent holes located in the front wheel archs to have even better airflow for the front brakes, which handle I would say up to 80% of the braking.

Now, if you planning to track car and/or beat the shit out of it, please note that it looks like the rotors would last for not more than 5-6 track days. Replacement cost is $4200 each, you'll likely need to change fronts a couple times (or even more) before the first set of rears also degrade.

Just want to make sure there is no misconception on the longevity of CCB’s on the track. They can last for countless track days.

It’s not the CCB that’s the issue here but heavy cars with insufficient brake cooling. For the rears, all electronic nannies must be turned off and it would likely help to use different brake fluid and race oriented pads.

On the AMG side, people are doing the same and even installing aftermarket brake ducts on the actual track ready AMG GTR’s.

Forgot to mention that one can’t easily measure the wear on CCB’s like steels. There are wear indicators in each disk (typically a dot).

Also, if CCB damage occurs, the rotors can be rebuild to new/better for a fraction of the $4200 a piece price.

If I was to get into an M8 from my M5 I'd only consider CC brakes. The brake dust and break squeal on my M5 steel brakes is terrible.
