I'm no exception here... and your question makes me think you're possibly unfamiliar with this massive (after)market. There are tens of 1,000s of folks/enthusiasts/customers like me out there buying 1,000s more aftermarket springs, wheels, spacers, turbos, exhausts, intakes, brakes, etc. from H&R, KW, MSS, Pure Turbo, GruppeM, Dinan, APR, Burger, Racechip, Evolve, etc.

This is a huge market and one in which you pay to play. That price is paid in both $$$ amount and risk. Some vendors offset the risk with warranties--most don't. The risk is *mine*, not the supplier that I asked to source me lowering springs and install them.

That said, Ben offered lots of advice, recommendations and experience... but no guarantees. Again: risk = mine.
Everyone thinks they are an M engineeer and race car driver and love to judge threads like this. Maybe they first need to get a car and realize its probably never going to hit the likes of the Ring or even put the limits that you place your car at. And then they judge the installer.. LOL

Its your fucking car- do your thing mate.

What did you do to the grill? Regular 8 series gloss black grill?

No, the grille is the M8C grille still. I added the intersecting teeth like I did on my M5:

Ahh, nice.
For a second I thought it was the regular 8 series single slat kidney grill.

It looks quite mean with single slat.

Agreed.

It looks very different with this grille than it did on the M5—probably due to the angular design of the grille. I like it a lot plus it's unique.

Progress update:
  • Mods halted for glaringly obvious reasons
  • That includes paint protection film, dual-layer ceramic coating and tints--all on hold
  • Tire upgrade to Michelins (which includes sending the stock Pirellis to Salem and burning them at the stake) on hold
Performance-wise: I've got both a JB4 and a RaceChip GTS Black simultaneously installed. I can switch one or the other on/off via the apps alone. I could also fuck things up completely and turn them both on at the same time (which I haven't done, nor will I ). It requires just a bit of forethought to ensure I don't do something stupid and this most definitely isn't a daily-driver setup--I'm doing it solely to get some relative performance data.

As it stands, RC GTS Black Race Mode and Burger JB4 map 1 are distinguishable by low 1/100ths of a second alone. Statistically speaking: I don't have enough data yet to draw any performance-consistency conclusions. However, I know that's going to disappoint anyone who gives a shit so I'll post what I've got:
  • 4 x 1/8th mile pulls incl. 0-60mph (obviously) on each device
  • 2 pulls on each device on two successive days; other than that:
  • Same car
  • Same day(s)
  • Same hour (within 10 mins of one another)
  • Same road
  • Same start/end point
  • Same fuel (obviously)
Results:
0-60mph
  • RC GTS Black best run = 2.82s
  • JB4 on map 1 best run = 2.86s
1/8th mile
  • RC GTS Black best run = 7.20s
  • JB4 on map 1 best run = 7.14s
JB4 stats on map 6 (this data has no bearing on the RC comparison since I'm using a customized map with boost targets higher than both JB4 map 1 and RC GTS Black Race Mode):
  • 0-60mph = 2.65s
  • 1/8th mile = 6.79s
Right now, both piggys are severely limited by traction. Beyond the numbers I posted above, I've been launching repeatedly since brake in and there's significant wheel spin every time: multiple times daily, hotter, cooler, good surface, bad surface, etc. With the stock Michelins on both my 2019 and 2020 M5s and, perhaps more obviously, with the 1cm wider setup I used mostly for aesthetics, traction was NEVER (and I mean *NEVER*) a problem. So for those of you continually defending Pirellis--ZIP it... you're wrong. And if you don't think you're wrong, you're wrong on that front, too--show me objective, first-hand comparable data that refutes or rivals this. The Pirelli PZeros aren't in the same league as either the Michelin PS4Ss or their predecessor (the Pilot SuperSports). On the plus side, the PZeros ride very nicely and produce little road noise (the latter probably the result of the fact they they're not gripping the road... apparently ).

That's it for now... more later when the world's less

If you have any comparison questions or other questions, feel free to ask.

I'll never post times with 1ft rollout—doesn't reflect reality. These are the actual times.

Why do you ask?

Hah, if anyone is interested in the M8 comp stock grille let me know. I have since replaced mine with the M performance one and not sure I will swap it back or just sell the black one.
