lol. That will go over well.

Imagine getting your $170k Chevy serviced next to a Cruze.

Chevy dealerships, sales and service staff cannot remotely provide the overall experience expected with a car that expensive.

$170k for a mid-engine corvette sounds not that crazy when you consider the NSX is about $160.

i think its going to be comparable to what the first gen nsx was... not performance wise, but workability wise. the everyman supercar. i think it might be a z06 motor mounted in the middle with a little more lightness.

I'll believe $170k when Chevy confirms that. That seems a bit steep for a car that barley tops $100k in the highest current model range(ZL1). Either way I doubt the base would start so high, maybe that's the ZL1 model. If they are keeping the same naming convention.

ZL1 is Camaro.
Z06/ZR1 is Corvette.

I would expect Chevrolet to approach the C8 similar to the C7. By having a stripped down "point of entry", very much below the leaked $170k with variations leading to $170k. The C7 Stingray starts around $55k with top of the line ZR1 pushing $130k. That's about an $80k split right there, I would expect the same for the C8.

Edit:
Configured a 2019 ZR1 with all options and it's ~$150k. Meaning there is almost a $100k split between a base C7 Stringray and a loaded C7 ZR1.

There is no way the new base corvette will be $170k, maybe if they make the rumored hybrid 1000hp model it will be up there.

Bob Lutz said to expect it to come in around 70k base

The 88-page meltdown thread on corvette forum over the 170k price "leak" certainly is.... something.

Don't make Corvette Guy mad!

Thumbs up

CarScoops says THIS is exactly what the C8 will look like! If so... Yes please! But... For $170k+, it had better hit 60 in under 3 sec and eclipse 200mph with ease. IJS

So the geniuses at GM can retain a stupid targa roof but can't figure out how to get a manual in there?

I was considering this car as a potential replacement for the m4, but I I'm starting to feel as though gm has lost me on the design. The side air intakes just don't fit the lines of the car, and I hope those wheels aren't along the lines of what they are thinking. The rear end looks spliced to the front too. I don't know... it just looks wrong somehow. Bummer if this is where it's headed because I am actually a fan of corvettes and I'm sure the performance will be world beating at it's price point.

Knowing GM this car will take at least 5 years to have all the kinks worked out.

For $200k, i will buy a used 458 that will still be worth close to that when you are done with it.
Huracan, R8, MB AMG GT, McLaren 570S are much more appealing in that price range.

It’s not going to be $170k. Base car, not even close.
