If this is the case, no one take M3 EV over M3 ICE.
Look at the existing sales market of M3 over i4 M50…
i4 M50 is the best selling "M" vehicle and has been since launch

Yes.
After huge discount, rebate and low MF.
A 77k i4 M50 was offered 3 years 10k lease for $800 tax included last summer.
M3 at that price point is well over $1300.
The point is how many people cross shop i4 M50 over M3?

I know a lot of people doubt things online, but this is pretty much a guarantee. Don't expect a new 8 Series in 2026 or 2027

Also M3/M4 are almost the same platforn. Why one ICE another EV?
It makes complete sense. M3 stays on the same CLAR platform, M4 goes to Neue Klasse EV. There is no M4 ICE because there is NO base car anymore: 4 Series Coupe ICE.

Maybe it doesn't make sense, but that's what will happen. Two M3s. Two different customer targets

It doesn’t make sense because then we will have different M family strategy.
For example today’s M family (M2/M3/M4/M5/M8/X3M/X4M/X5M/X6M) are all ICE cars.
New M5 (G90/G99) is PHEV so the next M2/M3/M4/Mx ,… are expected to follow new generation of PHEV… let’s see in 2-3 years

They learned a lesson with PHEV. Won't happen. Next M3 is ICE + Mild Hybrid, there is no M4 ICE, next M5 likely all EV. Next 2-3 years all you will see are mostly M EVs, including an X3 M EV.

Can't share links, but people know where I write stories on

I guess I couldn’t explain clearly.
The NA E series M cars, followed by F series turbo chargers (F series and then G series for 2 generations). Then the new generation started by XM and G9x M5.
So next M2/M3/M4 or whatever you call M3 2 door / M8/M6 ( I know you believe there is no M6 ) and then cross overs will follow G9x IMO.
I might be wrong… let’s see

I already mentioned what's in works, nothing else so far. The next M2 has not been decided yet, it's possible the current gen gets an extension. The only one set in stone so far is the M3 ICE and M3/M4 EVs. Lots of decisions are yet to be made. But for sure no M6, and M8 not until 2030 and who knows what drivetrain. Highly doubt it will be PHEV.

So the 8 series - G14, G15, G16 will be produced until 06/2026 and F91, F93 until 10/2025 ?

https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/12/22/b...ds-early-2025/
Initially, rumors suggested that a new generation of the BMW 8 Series and M8 was slated for 2026. However, our sources indicate that the final decision on their development has yet to be made. If greenlit, the next-generation 8 Series and M8 are unlikely to appear before 2029-2030.

Isn't that what hb wrote above as well? Could have something to do with the fact that he wrote this BMW Blog article as well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the large coupe gets scrapped for good just like MB did with the S Coupe. I certainly hope not since coupes still remain the best looking cars but the trend has been make more
SUV’s.

I love my M8 not sure what I could ever replace it with.

I have no great insight, or reason to question your sources. The only thing that strikes me is that throughout the world there seems to be a movement to the right, and sales of EVs (particularly in the US) have not been great, so it seems that car manufacturers are tempering their EV aspirations and plans. So, maybe BMW will change its plans to include more ICE cars.

I just received a survey from BMW about my M8, and they asked what I liked about it. I pointed out that a big selling point to me was that it was an ICE car. Maybe similar survey results from others could impact BMW's plans, like people's passion for keeping manuals. There is something else the German car companies, in particular, should keep in mind, and that is that their mechanically operating cars are superior to others, but with BEVs, there are other issues involved as cars become more like automotive appliances, which favors cars coming from China.

The current ideas around the 8 Series and M8 are both ICE and EV. And only Gran Coupe. As I said, no final decision yet, but they will have to make one soon. A lot of decisions were made in November for future products, but this one not yet. They have the S68, so I see no reason why they wouldn't do another ICE.

It will be an uphill battle to continue using V-8s in purely ICE cars due increasing fuel economy (CAFE in the US) regulations and standards in the US and Europe. That is why we get cars, like the new M5, that are heavy beasts by adding a plug in hybrid. We also see this with new AMG cars.

Sad news....which was somewhat in the air. In Germany on the BMW.de configurator the M8C is still configurable/available, but let's see for how long. I love my M8C in every respect and would not trade it or change it for anything else within the BMW's lineup. Actually now I feel even more like keeping this beauty for a long time!
