Last night's contract at a Regional Hospital ER was just about par. Except that I had an Intern shadowing me. Thankfully, we didn't have the usual week-end carnage as she had a million questions. At first, I was finding it a little annoying, as I had one finger on a bleeder, making sure I'm was not going to lose a finger by a runaway scalpel by the tired attending on-call physician in the process of removing a foreign object.

I've had instructional techniques training so I took a deep breath and became Florence Nightingale, Marie Currie and Mother Theresa realizing that this kid will be treating patients in the near future.

It's a good thing I was nowhere near Murf993 rum stash. he he he...

I love my job.

Question for the collective here.

I need input. Coming home last night, it was after 9:00 p.m., I'm making my way up the hill to my house and one of my neighbors runs out in front of my car. Literally ran full sprint to jump in front of my car; I almost hit him. I roll the window down and he begins yelling at me at the top of his lungs to slow down. Speed limit is posted as 20, everyone drives around the 30 mark. He is going absolutely ballistic screaming at the top of his lungs about how his kids play in the street and if I hit one "It will be the least of my worries" whatever that means? I was nice and apologetic and told him I was sorry and that I would slow down. He continued screaming at me and then told me "Now get on outta here" (I'm from TN). This is where I got pissed off. My actions last night were based around being a bigger person, understanding his point of view and trying to defuse the situation by apologizing. I felt that getting back in his shit would only escalate the situation and just piss me off further.

My point of view is that no one's children should be playing in the streets. Rather than attempt to keep his kids out of the street, it's easier for him to yell at motorists for....driving in the street at acceptable speeds according to him I suppose.

This has eaten me alive today. I honestly feel like I should have just put my car in park and beat his ass right there.

I drive by this "undesirable individuals" home multiple times a day. I have no intention of slowing down at this point. I will be mindful, as always, of children present; but this is the road I live on and feel that I drive at an acceptable speed. Due to my decision to continue to drive however the hell I wish (as long as I'm not endangering anyone) I expect this to become an issue again, very soon.

Without all the "you should slow down for kids" replies that this will get (I have kids as well and keep a watchful eye of kids in my neighborhood when driving so this is a moot point) what are ya'lls opinion of this situation?

My game plan is to continue to do what I do. If he doesn't jump in front of my car again, no issue; I go on with life. My question is, if he jumps in front of my car again, how would you handle this?

Natural selection, if his kids are stupid enough to play near or in the street, they will learn quickly that a car will do damage to their bodies. If he continues his lecturing, I'd go all Bo Duke on his front yard and let the beer cans fall out of the General Lee. Funny, I too am in TN and just this past week saw a modern Challenger painted in this color scheme...scary!

We are on the same page. I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the mentality of someone who screams at man, at least 15 years his elder, about being responsible, when seconds before he jumped in front of a moving car....in front of his kids. My thinking on this is, if he doesn't mind to show his ass in front of his kids, then he needs to be prepared to have his ass beat in front of his kids. "Slow down" is about to turn into "Zzzzzz's"

Get a dash cam. It’s not worth it to kick his ass. He will get you arrested.

Sounds like BS to me as well. He needs to teach his kids how to pay the fcuk attention to what they are doing & don't play in the street. And if he is campaigning so hard to become a hood ornament I say make his dreams come true! LoL

Definitely get a dash cam that way IF he jumps in front of your car again and you do accidentally hit him you will have proof he is bat shit

Go to a local BJJ gym. Find the toughest girl. Drive by his house repeatedly until he monkeys his ass in front of the car again. Proceed to have female beat him loud in front of his children. Take out and enjoy the show.

King Rudi this sounds like a PERFECT teaching moment, to SHOW the kids what happens to a human body when struck by 4000lbs of vehicle at slightly over the posted speed limit.

I'm choosing silence as not to incriminate myself any further. My reaction will based on his future actions. If I throw hands and don't end up in jail after, I'll be sure and report back.

I don't enjoy getting physical....let me rephrase that, I don't enjoy the tension between the time frame of the realization of knowing its about to get violent and when the first punch is thrown, but I very much enjoy the act of fighting.....until I see what I've done after. I have a big heart and always feel bad for the hurt I've caused after. I'm no MMA fighter but I have been trained on how to get it done.

Again, I truly hope it doesn't come to this, but I'm also very quick to end it, in the event that it does.
