The M8 Coupe is effectively gone from the BMW USA configurator.

You can select it, but can’t select any colors, tires, or other options.

This model has been turned off from Ordering and no new orders are being accepted moving forward.
Any unit that is currently in 105 or 047 (as of December 20th) will be pulled in and produced. This will take 1-2 weeks to process and assign production numbers.
While the M8 Coupe is not available for ordering anymore we still have the M8 Convertible and M8 Gran Coupé available for our customers.
The M8 Coupe will be removed from the website and BYO in January.
The info above sounds a lot like the EOP (end of production) of the f12/f13/& f06 six series.

And this gives some credibility to the rumors that the 8 series will end mid 2026…then be replaced by a “reintroduction” of the 6 series again.

Again, BMW ended the last generation 6 series by ending production of the 2-dr coupes first (2/2017), then the ‘vert (2/2018), then the grand coupe (9/2018) (dates are approx and may not be totally accurate…but hopefully close).

Unless there's plans to make a bigger coupe like the M4s big sis then unsure what they're thinking.
Rumors said there is a future Coupe betwewn M4 and M8 and both M4 and M8 will be discontinued… let’s see

No idea who said that, but again, there is no redesign in mid 2026 or even 2027. The earliest you will see one is 2029. And again, the car has NOT been approved yet.

There is no coupe in between those either. What you will see is an M4 electric at some point.

My opinion is that the M8 is considered too big & too expensive for a coupe. It seems like they sell a lot more of those than they do the GC. I've only seen 4 other GC in the SLC valley over the past couple of years.

That has been the rumor for some time now. 6 series mash up of the 4 and 8 coupe.

I suspect the real reason for discontinuing the M8 with no replacement in sight has more to do with the green agenda of the German government and BMW management trying to placate them rather than production numbers.

Compare this with GM making a ZR1 Corvette which will run mid 9 seconds seconds at over 150 in the quarter mile and probably handle like a slot car on 93 octane gasoline.

Will they sell a lot? Probably not but it is a halo car for their other models.

****Honestly, you bring up legitimate points. The German green agenda is a real thing, and BMW has to placate them or face their wrath.

Maybe too expensive but not too big,
M8 is only 2.7” longer than M4 with 1.2” shorter wheelbase and even 1.4” shorter height.

Well maybe a 190” M6!
And I dont believe the next generation of M3/M4/M6(if any) is pure EV.
Most likely PHEV.

That would be great. I want to like the M4 but just too small. Ideally would like a somewhat useable backseat but that seems like a pipe dream

M3 ICE, M4 EV , M5 PHEV?
Doesnt make sense to me…
Also M3/M4 are almost the same platforn. Why one ICE another EV?

Two versions of the M3. One ICE and one based on the EV Neue Klasse platform

Doesn’t make sense either.
If this is the case, no one take M3 EV over M3 ICE.
Look at the existing sales market of M3 over i4 M50…
