Did you try charging the battery? That has worked for some. I know it sounds like nonsense but the car won’t update if it doesn’t like the voltage it senses.

I will continue to keep trying everything mentioned on this thread, I think it if it doesn’t work Ill just leave it. Not sure how long Im planning to keep the car after my extended warranty anyways.

This is the only solution outside of using the dealer guys.

Have you try different dealership or talk with the service manager?? I still can't believe what the service advisor told you.

Unlikely any dealer will help, they despise using resources and square footage for software updates.

Dealer service is retched, remember they're all privately owned and after the pandemic they've taken a brand new ultra screw the customer approach... Same with the techs, all the good ones are leaving for independent shops.

Just for general information the reason you need at least 13+ volts at the battery is simply to ensure the update can be successfully written to the EEPROM memory in the car electronics.

The chip specs for a successful write cycle is the write voltage input must be 7.5 volts higher then the chip power supply input. In general this turns out to be 7.5+5.5 or 13 volts. In order to take care of all the possible tolerance variables this turns out to be somewhat higher then 13 volts.

Connecting something like a maintainer may not suffice because they are switching regulators which may have excessive output voltage
ripple.

What you need is a linear power supply which are much bigger and heavier then the normal inexpensive battery chargers.

Not following the above can result in incorrectly writing the update which can have catastrophic results i.e. the car may be inoperable.

2 issues i had when suffering the same symptoms was there is a bug that OS detects the hazard warning lights are on (when they obviously are not).
I also had low voltage on my secondary battery. I had this replaced and the dealer applied the update confirming the SW bug.

Details in this thread: https://f92.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2096733

I live in Vancouver too. Sorry to hear that. If I was you, I will send my compliant to BMW Canada and ask for clarification why this issue is not cover under my extended warranty

What will be improved with 07/2024.30?
Mine is running on 07/2022.57 and OTA update is not provided here in Japan.

I’ve noticed a few changes which are not detailed within the release notes:
[LIST][*]Suspension - Appears to be softer in comfort mode and more compliant on road imperfections. There seems to be a little more bounce when going over speed bumps. [*]Gear Changes - In comfort mode, the car is changing up gears earlier and driving more in the style of eco pro mode previously. [*]Sailing - In comfort mode the car is entering sailing mode more often (where the clutch disengages allowing the car to roll freely). In combination with the above gear changes, this is helping to increase overall mpg for my journeys. [*]Heads Up Display - The HUD 3D map view appears clearer and is displaying the 3D map view for key junctions more regularly. There also seems to be an improved zoom in/out effect on the HUD 3D map view when progressing through the junction. The view feels more useful now. [*]Driving Assistant Plus - This is a lot smoother in all aspects. It appears the car is able to better predict traffic slowing down or cutting into your lane and therefore reacts earlier meaning the car is less aggressive on the brakes. The steering assistant and lane keep assistant is improved with less minor corrections to keep the car centred within the lane. It is also feels smoother at negotiating curves. In the UK, we don’t have the Lange Change Assistant functionality, however the car is [...]
Wow Im impressed how you recognize the suspension updates… I dont even recognize difference between sport and sport+ ☺️
All I can say is that M8C is stiffer than M8 base😉

Hi All,
My G15 (ID7) had problem installing 11/2023.50 last year and after remote diagnostics by BMW it was down to the main battery charge. And it had to be replaced after just 4 years (!).
After replacing it the update installed in about 20 min.
Not sure if there’s a delay with 11/2024 in Ireland but my car hasn’t got it yet.
Anyone on the same boat?
Cheers

Each release usually gets distributed over the air in batches within 3 months from the software date. So 11/2024 will roll out from December to February. The more stable releases come at the end of the period, so no need to rush.

The current release notes for 11/2024 indicate most of the changes will be for Idrive 8.5 and 9. For us folks with Idrive 7, we will simply get under the hood fixes in the modules where required, but no new features.

Irony is after reading this thread a couple of days back I checked for an update as I'm still on 07/2022.xx the dealer installed. It downloaded 11/2023.50 as that appears to be the leap for 07/2024. Still waiting for it to trigger. Better not be the hazard lights bullshit again but if it fails my SA will just load 07/2024. 😜

I’ve asked the dealership about it and its not covered under warranty even tho I have the Platinum extended warranty
A BMW Platinum extended warranty covers the Infotainment system. Sounds like you're getting the runaround. That said technically even under the full manufacturer warranty dealer iDrive updates are not covered as BMW will not pay them for the work as they expect everything to be OTA. Problem is the OTA bootloader is buggy including my "hazard lights" on error that was a joke.

Agreed but it all comes down to a relationship with your SA. An iDrive update at best is 30 minutes of labor. Hook up the car, initiate the programming, walk away, come back and unhook the car. It's more like 15 minutes with the hookup, initiation and unhooking but 30 minutes is generous.

$250 for that is an absolute joke. My SA will do it anytime I ask whether they eat the cost or get reimbursed. It's the relationship vs the iD7 bootloader bugs BMW has never addressed. 👍

After sitting in the complete the process on your BMW for about a month, the update was ready to install when I went out to the car this morning.
I was just about to call the dealer.

First time driving the car after the update last week (Too many cars to drive and the weather was terrible for the M8). Noticed one terrible update: Now auto start/stop will turn itself on whenever I switch off M1/M2. I wish I didn't take this update tbh.
Probably need to code it off forever..

Whoa, what?

That’s BS. I am not uploading this update just for that reason alone.

I love that I can keep A.S.S. off permanently.

Screw all of them. And did the update affect your exhaust overrun pops?

I guess so but I need to drive it more to provide a fair judgement. I floored it twice last night with engine fully warmed up, from a dig. I didn’t get any pops when it lift the gas pedal. However yesterday was cold, not sure if that changes things
