Dealer service is retched, remember they're all privately owned and after the pandemic they've taken a brand new ultra screw the customer approach... Same with the techs, all the good ones are leaving for independent shops.

Just for general information the reason you need at least 13+ volts at the battery is simply to ensure the update can be successfully written to the EEPROM memory in the car electronics.
The chip specs for a successful write cycle is the write voltage input must be 7.5 volts higher then the chip power supply input. In general this turns out to be 7.5+5.5 or 13 volts. In order to take care of all the possible tolerance variables this turns out to be somewhat higher then 13 volts. Connecting something like a maintainer may not suffice because they are switching regulators which may have excessive output voltage ripple. What you need is a linear power supply which are much bigger and heavier then the normal inexpensive battery chargers. Not following the above can result in incorrectly writing the update which can have catastrophic results i.e. the car may be inoperable. |

2 issues i had when suffering the same symptoms was there is a bug that OS detects the hazard warning lights are on (when they obviously are not).
I also had low voltage on my secondary battery. I had this replaced and the dealer applied the update confirming the SW bug. Details in this thread: https://f92.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2096733

What will be improved with 07/2024.30?
Mine is running on 07/2022.57 and OTA update is not provided here in Japan.

Hi All,
My G15 (ID7) had problem installing 11/2023.50 last year and after remote diagnostics by BMW it was down to the main battery charge. And it had to be replaced after just 4 years (!). After replacing it the update installed in about 20 min. Not sure if there’s a delay with 11/2024 in Ireland but my car hasn’t got it yet. Anyone on the same boat? Cheers |

The current release notes for 11/2024 indicate most of the changes will be for Idrive 8.5 and 9. For us folks with Idrive 7, we will simply get under the hood fixes in the modules where required, but no new features. Last edited by VP007; 11-23-2024 at 05:09 PM.. |

$250 for that is an absolute joke. My SA will do it anytime I ask whether they eat the cost or get reimbursed. It's the relationship vs the iD7 bootloader bugs BMW has never addressed. 👍 Last edited by bloozemanAZ; 11-26-2024 at 05:48 PM.. |

After sitting in the complete the process on your BMW for about a month, the update was ready to install when I went out to the car this morning.
I was just about to call the dealer. |

First time driving the car after the update last week (Too many cars to drive and the weather was terrible for the M8). Noticed one terrible update: Now auto start/stop will turn itself on whenever I switch off M1/M2. I wish I didn't take this update tbh.
Probably need to code it off forever..

That’s BS. I am not uploading this update just for that reason alone. I love that I can keep A.S.S. off permanently. Screw all of them. And did the update affect your exhaust overrun pops? |

I guess so but I need to drive it more to provide a fair judgement. I floored it twice last night with engine fully warmed up, from a dig. I didn’t get any pops when it lift the gas pedal. However yesterday was cold, not sure if that changes things
