BMW claims 617 bhp (625 hp) at Crank not Wheel.
All the numbers on BMW website are Crank.
BMW never claimed anything at Wheel.
Also what Carwow test result shows is 651 hp which is 642 bhp at Crank not wheel.

The OPF is a requirement for new vehicles in the EU. It "steals" about 40hp (depending on make and model). Porsche for example also does not install the OPF for the US market, but reduces the boost. BMW just doesn't install them. There are even a couple of models that were rated differently (Z4 340PS/382hp).

You can also compare US cars ... like the Z06 (670hp vs 640PS).

That's where the higher numbers come from ... they're not giving us something for free ... we're just lucky that they're lazy enough to not change the tune for the US.

So basically you are saying our cars in US are actually producing close to 700 hp?

Yes. As car & driver stated, 617hp to the wheels - close to 700 crank.
