The OPF is a requirement for new vehicles in the EU. It "steals" about 40hp (depending on make and model). Porsche for example also does not install the OPF for the US market, but reduces the boost. BMW just doesn't install them. There are even a couple of models that were rated differently (Z4 340PS/382hp). You can also compare US cars ... like the Z06 (670hp vs 640PS). That's where the higher numbers come from ... they're not giving us something for free ... we're just lucky that they're lazy enough to not change the tune for the US. |
