Although I don't consider it a "beater"...the 128i I picked up is my daily I have my Corvette for my "play car".
But truth be told, I enjoy driving them both about equally when I go up in the mountains. The only advantage to the C6 is hitting roads long enough to stretch it "legs" more.

2010 GTI. Bought little over a year ago with 62k miles, 6sp, sunroof, heated seats. Bought barely used Bilstein/ VWR spring combo, absolutely stole a set of used BBS CHs, new brakes, new Michelin MPSS. Thing is fun to drive, 29 mpg, can haul most anything. Wife calls it the "shopping cart".

I love the wide range of beaters here!
Mine is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. It'll be my winter car, my M2C will be my summer daily and occasionaly tracked.

Not exactly a beater, but maybe in years. It's a 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, which I use on days I don't want to get my 328i wet or dirty lol.

yup. 2009 Honda civic. picked it up last may for 6000 and has been rock solid since. 100 degrees or zero, it always starts up and never fusses. Cops never look at it. I don't mind putting a front plate on it. etc.
Plus its just awesome not giving a f@ck when you drive.

No beater for me but I also don't commute to work. My wife has a 2019 XC90 that I'll drive if I need to go somewhere I rather not take the M3 or if I need to transport something that can't fit in the M3.

I have a Suzuki SX4 sedan I use as a beater for when I work in most parts of NYC, or if I need to drive in the snow. I've been considering buying a new beater that NY considers a Clean Pass vehicle so I can drive in the HOV lane on the Long Island Expressway.

i've actually made friends at my gym from people approaching me about driving the smart and asking about "how i fit" (i'm 6'03" / 230lbs). people are mostly curious about it because its so oddly small- then the find out its electric and it launches a whole next level of curiosity. the people that have had the most negative reactions are typically 17-22 year old males working in service jobs like a fast food drive through. i feel like that demographic typically has a narrow perspective and very short-time perspective that doesn't let them see past the car and the greater purpose it serves. i mean, my other car isn't a ferrari, but its not a slug, either. another thing- people seem flabbergasted when i mention the [relatively] short 65 mile range of the smart. "what do you do if you need to drive farther than that?!" uuhh, i take one of my gas cars. *OOOOOOOhhhh!*
