Back in February 2021, I got a brand new 2020 base model which was almost fully loaded (Driving assistance , Driving assistance professional, B&W , Full leather). Drove it for 36 months and then extended lease for additional 6 months. I really had plan to buy it off but the adjusted 42 months residual was 10k higher than market price (74K vs 64K) and BMW DOES NOT negotiate on buy off. Ended up to return the car last Friday and get a brand new 2024 M8 Competition with all options I had on 2020 base + CF package for 155K. I got total of 36K discount (28K discount + 8K rebate) which is 23% off MSRP. Car was built on December 2023 and arrived at dealership on April 2024 So: 1. The depreciation on this car is alot more than usual. 2. You can get decent discount if you look around Again this is fantastic car and out off all the high performance M cars (M6,M4,M3) I had in past, this is the first time I get a car twice. I usually break my lease before it ends up, but not this time with this car.

your new m8
[QUOTE=M8MF;31193021]Hello Everyone,
This is my first time on this forum and I wish I had sought advice before committing to my new car. I built and ordered a 2025 M8 Competition Coupe, which takes 6 months to build in Munich, Germany. I left a $10,000 deposit, and the sticker price is $158,682.04. I am having buyer's remorse and instantly regretted buying this car. I don't even know why. The vehicle is super dope. It is a special painted blue with a white entire, and included all options. But I think that the depreciation on an M8 is so much higher than normal. I could have saved 100k by buying a used one. //////////// Sure if you agree to sacrifice on options or colors you can get slightly used one for much cheaper. But,,,if you want a toy as you wish you pay the price and enjoy your toy. I wanted very special to me green PTS M8 and it's what I got and get wide smile on every ride |

Yes, buying the current model year new at the premium end (M8 Competition) will depreciate significantly over the next 4 years. However, you only live once and that is a sweet looking car! |

MFM8, last March I was in the market for an M4 Competition coupe. Had a deal lined up when I came across an M8 Competition coupe when sniffing out the M4 at dealer. Yep, the M8 was a definite upgrade $$$ wise, but what a car! I had a little buyers remorse, until I drove it home. Will it depreciate? Certainly! But as long as your plan is to keep the car for a while, that's not as much of an issue IMO.
One thing I can definitely tell you is you won't regret it when you're driving it! Awesome car to drive!

Congrats. I picked one up last month. At the same time I was calling around to my dealer contacts for an M3/4 for my Brother. Lease payments on the $150,000 M8 were within a hundred or two a month of the $100,000 M3/4 because of the discounts and incentives on rhe M8. Crazy

Correct but M3/M4 hold their price much better than any BMW and thats why the deal is more attractive for many people. A 100k M3/M4 in 3 years worth 70-80k while the residual is 55-60k which is average 15k equity and even more special these days that you can get 2025 model in 2024. 3 year later in 2027 when the lease is up, you have a 2025 model.

You cant convince yourself to return the car. As I mentioned earlier in this thread after almost 42 nonths I was not willing to return my 2020 M8 but had to do because of market price vs buyoff price and tha’s why got 2024 model instead… And I’m so happy with this move 😉

Hey everyone, I was hoping any 2 door M8 Conv/Coup owners can help me out with my next car purchase. Currently I drive a 2020 BMW 228i as second owner. I got it with 10k miles and in 2 years I am up to 48k miles(yes I know I drive too much). I am hoping at the least I can get a trade in value by next year of 20k for it and I am saving up at least 15-20k to put down for my next car.
Long story short, I push my car a decent bit, I don't drift but I do like to hit some high speeds every once in a while. I'm hoping by next year/year and a half I will have 35k-40k to put down on an M. I'm looking at an M2, M4, or M8. I love the M8 it's my favorite BMW by far and I keep seeing 2020 models being listed for around 65k-75k for around 22,000 miles. My questions are this... 1. Are these prices too good to be true? It's hard to believe I keep seeing these crazy low sticker prices and not feeling like I may be hit with more fees once I am signing off on a purchase. 2. How well does the car function when you get to high mileage. I'm nervous about repairs in an M8 as I drive a lot, and it is an S63 engine after-all. For my car I deal with a decent amount of maintenance but I never needed a "repair." Can the same be said for an 8 cylinder M car? 3. This one is for the modding community. I'm not sure if I would do this on an M especially because I don't want to be 20k in the hole for a repair. I'm thinking downpipes, dual mount intakes, and a tune... nothing beyond that. I know my questions are very specific and catered to a niche group of people but if anyone can answer these I'd greatly appreciate it. I've been searching the internet for about 2 months and can not find the answers to any of these... Thanks everyone! |

The issue is this is high cost car if it goes to repair. I was going to buy warranty and maintenance for my 2020 M8 before returning and figured out it costs about 8-10K for extra 3 years. M8 is heavy so basically you need brake service which is expensive. In addition my local dealer told me at every 3 oil changes there is a maintenance program to change all other oils ( Differential/Gearbox, etc) and the total oil change costs about 1800. Anyways M8 is fantastic car but high maintenance. I have never driven S63 for more than 35k miles but had no issue up to that point.

Dealer had a 2024 M8 GC CPO with 4k miles, 45k price drop from MSRP. It was beautiful dravits over orange. I went with a brand new M3 Comp Xdrive with individual color Malachite green over tartufo that was on the showroom floor. Not quite as luxurious as an M8 but a hoot to drive.

I’d imagine dealers are discounting these extra hard now even compared to August when I got mine. I still see a few 24s on the lots and a bunch of the same 25s when I was looking 2 months ago. There are at least 25 convertibles within 100 miles of me
