Suspension and chassis design has come a long way since then. Today's car are much stiffer and handle much better. What is still good about the E46 is the styling, the steering, and the size. E46 sized M3 coupe with hydraulic steering, modern suspension, braking, and tires would be a treat to drive.

That's why I said all of that updated for 2021 standards. Of course the S55 engine in the exact same E46 chassis with no changes would not perform well against today's cars.

If they added two more doors than the M2 would be perfect. We had ours for about 8-months before it was totaled and it was excellent, just wish it had rear doors for extra practicality. Since they botched the M3's looks, there's pretty much no good small BMW M 4-door anymore in my opinion.

Well, there is a limit to how many braces you can bolt onto something. The Nissan FM platform is basically 20 years old. I'm not that optimistic it'll be up to par in the handling and ride department.

I like the way it looks. With a manual to boot, for it could be a very compelling bit of kit for the price. This all sounds very promising to me. Well, it was promising until I read it's not coming to Europe at all so I guess I'll never get to drive it. I'm not surprised, though, Infiniti has already left the continent. We're not even getting the new BRZ.

From pics and video - the Z looks longer and wider. It doesn’t have the “shrunk” styling of the Supra. Z has a great design and hoping the performance will be great as well. |

Imagine the possibilities with a little aftermarket support.

Also double wishbone suspension up front (something the Supra doesnt have). I will be shocked if they sell the 400HP VR30 car for less than 40k.

I always loved the 300zx when I was a kid. The 350 & 370z cars didn’t ever interest me the same way. I’m cautiously optimistic this new one might be better, though. If the numbers M3_WC & Supra93 posted are accurate it could be very cool.

They replaced it with QX50 that was worse in every way possible! Nissan made the GTR and then went backward in terms of engine, suspension, and transmission...the current Infiniti lineup is just plain bad. I like how the Z-looks, but Nissan has to change so many things about their cars to be interesting again. JMHO. |

This is growing on me more & more. When I originally did the pole, I chose the lesser of 2 evils: The Zupra. I did that in hopes that the GR version would come out with a manual.
I wasn't a big fan of the Z when it 1st came out, something seemed off on the back, and still seems off on the front. But it's growing on me, and if I can get a 400hp turbo w/6spd. for around $35k, I might see one in my future in a couple of years.
