I am again debating the merits of PPF. Just the front? Entire car? None at all since I got a "standard" color (skyscraper)? What say you all?

When I park I just take a whole half of one level....... Or if I go to launch I find an empty runway...

New Continental DWS06+ A/S. Really happy with these. I hate run flat summers that came on the car. Loud and rough. I put 40 front 35 rear which is a little bigger sidewall so filled up some wheel gap and much better ride and noise. Handling still awesome too.

Looks good. The 8ers tires, I feel, are the wrong size. I wanted to do this. I have a spare set of M5 wheels with snow tires (about an inch bigger in diameter)......i thought, heck, just slap these on and see if they fit. They fit, but the rear offset kinda pushes the poke a bit too much. I asked 3 separate pros about increasing my OEM wheel diameter. My tire place said it's fine. My BMW dealer tire and wheel guy, plus the service folks said no. My specialty performance guy said no, no, no. Gotta keep the tire diameter same as OEM or you mess up all the transmission and suspension electronics and sensors. To me, if all 4 wheels get the same increase in tire diameter, how does the overall car know everything is roughly 3% off? Internet searches mostly discuss keeping a close match between front and back. Really want to fill the wheel well up. Yours looks great. Do you forsee any problems? Thx |

I’m more concerned about who to believe regarding adding the inch to the diameter, like you did. If the BMW tech said no, the BMW tire guy said no, the performance shop guy said no, but the tire shop guy said yes, it leaves me in a quandary. Then you come along and just do what I’ve been rassaling with. I wish a BMW engineer could explain it to me. Someone said it would affect the DSC, among other things. Who knows. Everyone on this forum can go on ad nauseum about the tiniest little details on any number of things..... but no one has yet to chime in when I've brought this subject up before. And, yeah, another inch of rubber would make the ride even nicer. Last edited by snowbimmer; 01-15-2023 at 12:20 AM.. |

i've never done it with an AWD car. i imagine if you kept the diameter front and rear as close to stock as possible its doable and i'd agree with the tire guy. BMW employees are all obviously conservative in their recs ultimately we need someone to try it out! |

My dad has had all of the recent Corvette models and won't take it out if it looks like it's going to be cloudy next week. I tell him I paid extra for the wet weather package for my car so I'm able to get it wet. Must not be one of the 200 options on the Corvettes.
