Carbon Seats

With the exception of the akro exhaust, the only option I could not order was the carbon seats. Kinda pissed me off, but I went with it.

A few weeks ago, met a fellow BMW trackday aficionado in his new M4 which had the carbon seats.

Asked to sit in the car, holy fuckballs are those nice. Fit me perfect.

Went to the dealer to price out the seats and in Canada, they are min $42k to order. Yes that’s correct. I looked on as the parts person scrolled through.

Order a new 2025? Wow. $220,000 CDN.

Mine is worth $135k against a new order.

All this for carbon seats not to mention the re and re of all my mods.

I must be crazy to even contemplate this.

Existing seats showing some wear, which is a bit disturbing. See pic.

Easy answer is if you like, you buy.

For those that have the carbon seats, thoughts?

Look for used carbon seats in Ebay. You should be able find a pair for $8-10k. Definetely don't buy new or lose $80k on a trade.

LOL on the "holy fuckballs" as went on a test drive with a buddy on his search for a M3. It had the CF buckets and I crushed my balls getting into the passenger seat due to the "center" portion. The CA told me "next time tuck, lift and sit". 😜

Yes, my junk was already secure when I sat down. lol. Definitely don’t want to be in suit slacks or anything loose!

Yes gave up looking after the 100th search. What would be the chances of a set appearing. Pretty slim.

I can put aftermarket seats in, but looks like there will be serious issues with the DME that aren’t worth the trouble

I dont have the buckets in my M8 but do in my M3 CS and I really like them-- getting in and out is a just a little bit annoying but when in--- fuck ya

Great fore, aft, and lateral support. Id get them again if I had the opportunity on the 8's.

You should to buy carbon bucket seats version leather mix alcantara. I have them and don't any damages. But I'm carefully when I get in and get out. Try starting practice to get in seat properly

Yes, having to relearn that. Noticed I glazed across the edge the other day quickly getting in. I shouldn’t have lowered it so much, plus have the 19 in track wheels

Nothing significant for a 42xx lb car.
Maybe 30-40 lb total ... less than 1%

when add carbon bucket seats, ceramic brakes, wheels and exhaust you can less weight about 50 kg(110 lbs) and 60-130 (100-200) will be faster ~0.2-0.3s

No, I don’t have anything like that. It’s from my 227 pound ass getting into the seat. Just too tall really. It’s a fair assumption though.

.2-.3 is an eternity. I’m sure it will make a difference but maybe not that significant.
