2025 Electrified Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman: Everything We Know About the Electric Sports Cars
Only the 911 is sacrosanct as far as full electrification goes.
WHAT IT IS It's no secret Porsche is moving the majority of its product portfolio toward electric propulsion of one kind or another, including its sports cars. The German company plans for the 911 to only go as far as adding a gas-electric hybrid of the 992-generation model in 2025, but the popular 718 range will be electric-only when its next incarnation arrives, also in 2025.
Porsche CEO Oliver Blume has said the company wants to build its exceptionally well-regarded mid-engine sports cars exclusively as electric vehicles beginning with these next-gen versions—and despite some enthusiasts' best efforts to pretend it wouldn't actually happen, the apocalypse appears upon them.

Sounds like there are going to be some really fun green insanity shitbox pinto EVs to drive. As someone who looks to the future with excitement and optimism I think this is pretty cool. I just finished seven straight days of working and I looked forward to the extra driving of my green insanity shitbox pinto EV. It's a lot of fun.

gblansten you have my deepest sympathy. I had the M4CS out this weekend and you will never know the joyous sound of a three liter 6 cylinder twin turbo running up and down the gears or the pleasure from a 3600lb road magnet on 315's carving through the turns. Only your 5,000 lbs vacuum cleaner humming along. Your a good guy so I'm willing to send you a CD you can play of a real car to disguise the hummmmm.

My car weigh 4700 pounds. I had a 2009 C63 AMG, 2011 M3 coupe, 2014 M5, 2017 X5M, and a 2020 M5. My fun just continues.

You're going the wrong direction on the automotive spectrum. What's next Porsche Taycan Turbo S? I hear there are some good deals to be had. Hmmmmmm

Did you do any of the unplugged performance suspension? I've tried them many times but can't get over the trash factory brakes and suspension.

Was going to go out to cali and drive one of their heavily modified ones but never got around to it.

No. I always lease through my business. So I stay away from mods. Though they can clearly be fun.

The new EPA rules force automakers to sell over half their vehicles as BEVs with no ICE component by 2032 or something. It's almost like the unelected bureaucrats don't give a crap about what consumers want, and think they can just dictate. They'd be right at home in Xi's government.
