Auto Start Issue

Hi,

For the past few days I've been auto starting the car as it's getting colder (using my key). When entering the car as usual I press the brake an hit the start/stop button, 7/10 times the car shuts off.

Any idea why this is happening? Thanks

I've experienced the same. I attributed it to either the car not seeing the key fob or the key fob battery possibly needing replacement. Or it could be a software bug.

I know it's not a battery issue as my key is always charged to full. As to software bugs, I did not have any new updates yet. Hmm...

Anyone else is experiencing this issue?

I do not and I almost always use remote start function. Only time something like that happened to me was I forgot to put foot on brake before I hit the button.

The weird part it's intermittent, 6-7 times out of 10 the car is shutting off and that never happened a week ago as I also always use this feature all the time!

You don't happen to be hitting the 15min time limit somehow?

Ah, that's a good question, I will time it the next time I start the car and see what happens. Is that a feature with BMWs that if you get close to the 15 minute even when the car is still running it would shutoff? Thanks

I've only had a similar experience once in likely 100+ remote starts. On that message on the iD screen plus cockpit to put my foot on the brake and press the start button as usual. In the one off the car just shut down. It was well within the 10 minute (may be 15 minutes) remote climate control start. Given it has only happened once I chalked it up to a gremlin vs a true issue.
