Spare Trunk?

I needed a low profile jack to lift my refrigerator so I could adjust the height foot print, so I looked in my cars......I did a quick peek in my trunk but i have a rubber liner in I so could not do a proper inspection, but there seems to be no ability to lift up the carpet lid and thus no jack nor spare tire area? The owners manual shows no information about the trunk components. Interestingly, on my X5 there is secret room for a spare but none present. I could not find a jack in that on either. Is it true that my M8 has no jack and no area for a tiny spare?

Yeah no spare, the cars come with run flats as standard some don’t depending on the tire equipped. The car is supposed to have a repair kit on the right hand side of the trunk. I think you can get a spare.

M8 does not have a jack and a spare tire. In Europe, a tire repair kit is an optional extra.

What’s scary is…how many other owners out there that have run flat tires…don’t know they have no jack or tools to change the tires?

I bought a space saver type spare from

www.modernspare.com

The good:
I actually have a spare tire and all that is needed to change it. It came with a jack and a ratcheting lug wrench and other stuff too. In a nice bag case with handle sized right for it all to fit.
It's a nice but expensive kit. Now I have peace of mind .
The Bad:
I now have this bulky spare tire taking up valuable trunk space.
You win one and ya loose one....lol
I'd still rather have it than not.
Cars without spares should be illegal.
I mean such a gorgeous capable great car and it has no spare....WTF BMW?
My beautiful empty trunk now has a big (although much thinner than an regular tire and wheel) in it.

I own a 2011 E90 M3 with no spare. My solution was to buy a Fanttik X8 APEX Cordless Tire Inflator and also add on AAA Plus which includes 100 mile towing. Also have the BMW tire repair kit.

In my mind this should cover most situations without using up trunk space with the donut aftermarket spare. After 50K miles of driving I have yet to get a flat so its untested!

What I thought was odd about my X5 is there is no spare either but there is a compartment under back deck floor plate where a small spare could be placed.

I take it that there is no such compartment in the M8?

Same here. I have a G15, and I have a combo cordless battery booster and air compressor. I also keep a can of fix a flat in the truck of my cars.

sounds like the 8 series doesnt have room for a false floor. I was hoping for a secret compartment.

Ya the 8 is a great car, but it could have been thought out better in a lot of areas. I still love the car but am disappointed about a few things now that I'm 2 years in on my 22. I'd change some things that are pretty hard to change if I could have or could do now.
But what car is perfect?
I guess I'm just spoiled.
