It's been awhile since I compared the two but going off of memory the M8C includes a more enhanced exhaust system. The M8C also includes full leather in the base vs the add on to the Extended Merino on the M8. For what it's worth when I priced out a M8 vs M8C I leaned towards the latter as by the time you option up the M8 to be equivalent from an interior perspective alone on a lease it is marginal cost plus you end up with the better exhaust.

Aside from the points mentioned by Blooze (exhaust and interior), the M8C also includes the extended shadowline components (grille, side vents, mirror caps, spoiler, and badges), the obvious wheel difference, M colored seat belts, along with some different engine mounts and bracing that will stiffen the vehicle up. As mentioned, full leather + Exhaust what makes it worth it, and that's over 10k of that 13k difference.
Granted if you're trying to find a coupe or convertible and you're seeing the limited inventory, the base M8 will make you smile just the same. You could add the shadowline components (or perhaps carbon instead), get an exhaust, wheels, etc.. Basically beyond the full leather, the extra HP through a tune, engine mounts, and the bracing are the only kinds of things you'd still be missing without modding more heavily, and loosing those items would only be marginally noticeable at the limits.

I think these are some other items:
• Model-specific engine mounts (increased spring rate of 5,139 – compare to 3,312 lbs/in. of the standard M5) • Lower ride height by 7mm • Springs are shorter and 10% firmer front and rear • Unique tuning for damper hydraulics • Increased negative camber at front axle • Toe links fitted with ball joints instead of rubber mounts • Spring rate of rear anti-roll bar is firmer • Front axle features redesigned mounting for the anti-roll bar • Tailpipes in black chrome My apologies for any duplicates already mentioned.

What sucks is they didnt make 2021's and the limited batch of 2020 M8 competition convertibles that are left cost $300 more then I am paying for my current i8 Roadster lease (ending in April). and Even a 2021 X6M comp is $200 less then these 2020 M8 comps |

I was just on my local dealers site, they have an M8 convertible. But base stereo, base leather.....and cannot find any mention of massage seats....a must...it's just crazy that a car that lists for $147,000 was not spec'd out with those items. My M5 was fully spec'd, all the goodies accept the pedestrian warning system. On fence about buying out lease or getting M8 convertible. Agree with above on M8Comp Conv. Has more stuff included and the sticker is not that much higher. Can anyone confirm is massage seats are even available on the convertible, I could not find that in the BMW website.

I like how the thread (in part) went from comparing a non comp M8 to a comp M8 to seats where either way there are not massaging options.
I have had the F90 and now the M8 CE and while I never used the M5 massaging option I do feel the M8 seat is just a bit more sporty and less forgiving- there is no seat in the universe better than my girl at the all night neon sign 50 dollar to make you holla massage parlor. Oh wait, we are talking about car seats; the best massaging seat Ive owned was in my RS7 Performance with the Comfort Seat Option (3k). Other than that Ive never used the option in any of my cars.

That said, I drove the M8 3,500 miles from Seattle to Orlando without them and managed just fine. So everyone's takeaway from this and many/most of my posts is that I contribute very little of any use. : |

You misread my intent—I was merely thinking out loud whilst highlighting that I did like them. The joke was directed at me by me—it's part of my sense of humor—pointing out the contradiction made me laugh so I wrote it, too. Nothing to do with what you said beyond throwing my own input into the mix. PS: my closing comment was a statement to all readers, not a rhetorical dig at you. I've updated it to read as such. Having re-read it, I get why you'd think it was directed at you. It wasn't (I don't know how to be subtle ). |

To get this thread back on topic as well as help the OP and anyone else who stumbles on this thread looking for Comp vs non comp info.
I posted before in another thread about this same topic that you can do almost everything the same or better yourself much cheaper than the $13,000 Competition package. So don't let that sway you from a good deal on a non comp. In my opinion the Comp package is a total rip off/money maker for BMW and the sum of its parts aren't worth anything near what it costs. That said I get that it can be more beneficial in lease terms. You can add the additional front camber with an alignment. It's probably not worth doing the stiffer engine mounts and ball joints instead of rubber at the rear but these can be had from BMW parts online vendors for a fraction of the price @ the dealer if you really must have them. This isn't at track car, it's not going to handle better at legal speeds it will only ride harsher. The shadowline front grill, black side vents and black rear badge can all be had for less than $500. If you can't find the part number on your own PM me as I replaced all the chrome on mine with these exact parts. The track mode display is silly but I am sure someone could code it for you if you really wanted to pay for it. As for the 17hp you can get WAY more than that (like 100hp+) with a piggy back tune for $700 An M8 and an M8 Competition both make the same power when tuned. No internal engine differences. The competition exhaust is only different in the mid-pipe and the tip size/color. You can replace the mid-pipe with the factory part for around $1200 if you want to stay "OEM" and paint the exhaust tips gloss black but why not just spend that on an aftermarket exhaust as you are still way under $13,000! Same with the wheels, buy the BMW Comp wheels online (for a fraction of the price of a dealership) or buy some better looking aftermarket ones, whatever makes you happy. Seatbelts have the tri color going down them, again you can replace with an OEM part, but the labor to replace the belts will probably cost more than the belts lol. The only thing you really need to have in the non comp is the upgraded leather package ($3500 option) as you won't be able to do that aftermarket. |
