So anyone got any more information regarding a rev limiter of 5k rpm and no burbles / pops and crackles ? Is this before the break in service or is there something wrong that I should get checked? |

Please check and let me know. I've seen Zedsly on YouTube rev it between 6 and 7 k on standstill and I'm trying to figure out if he unlocked that in a tune or if it's supposed to be able to do that from the get go.

But why do you care about an RPM limiter of 5K in neutral/park? |

I generally don't like forced limiters, and I've seen that the OPF versions like his seem to only burble / pop when revd between 6 and 7 in sport plus... Again I don't like limiters when it comes to exhaust either. Being a new car, I also would like to know that everything is in order and not that mine is limited while others aren't.

I have some good news, there's no 5K rev limiter in park! I also some have some bad news: there's a 4.8K rev limiter in both neutral and park. There's no rev limiter (other than running into the red line) when in drive. |

It's definitely not on any m8 competition or m850 in the 2019 years. It's probably a 2020 or software thing.
Yet another reason to NOT upgrade any software in any BMW. |

I believe the rev-limiter in Park is part of EU regulations as well. I think it might be sound regulations?
It's not just BMW. It's showing up on Audi and Porsche at a minimum as well. |

Yea that's exactly what I just asked in another forum. Has to be Europe only due to the new regulations to keep the exhaust noise under 68dB. It shouldn't apply to US markets unless US environmental regulators have followed suit.

My M6 only goes to about 4k in neutral when stationary. But as soon you're moving it'll bounce off the limiter quite happily

Which brand PPF did you find matches the OEM bmw frozen paint finish? From what I’ve seen so far it seems Xpel stealth is pretty spot on with that. |

Congratulations 🎊. Wonderful car. The rev limit will raise after the 1500 mile break in period by bmw . This is to prevent premature engine wear . You should baby it until then .
I'm in the UK and all pops and crackles were removed in order to meet eu regulations. Apart from the opf, software has been updated too . The USA market does not suffer from this . I personally think ( my opinion ) the crackles and pops do not suit the car . 🤔 I, along with my brother have a coupe and Gran coupe order . I don't miss the pops . I live in a built up area and many a times cars with pops pass by and are really pissing me off. I don't want others to think of me that way too. |

There are soft limiters too in place to stop people revving their cars at standstill. This is normal if in N . Its called a soft limiter . But , once in gear and driving , you should be able to rev it only after 1500 mile break in period once the car has come back from bmw .
Do NOT pass the 1500 mile . If anything take it to bmw just before . You may void your warranty. |
