Ummmmm
They could have made the rear spoiler just a little bit bigger, right? The car is beautiful, but I would just chuckle every time I went around to the back and saw that tiny tail sitting there.

I am pretty sure the leak is accurate. None of the large magazines or sites like autoblog or jalopnik have picked up the leaked images. BMW I am sure is threatening them with access removal if they publish and get the pics out there.

Typically they prep show cars at a dealership warehouse. Here in Detroit they do the same thing for the NAIAS. This car is clearly a show car being detailed and prepped and stored for a show. They usually have keepers that make sure no photos. That dealership and owners will be in big trouble.

wow... i'm more than disappointed in the front bumper. The rest looks quite good and i was thinking about a convertible version in the future but the glued on carbon fiber parts and the waaaay less interesting looking intakes compared to the concept are killing it for me.

I just had to remember the M4 concept and pulled up some pictures of that, and that was in fact 99% accurate. Now the mirrors always are quite a difference to the concept but the front on this one is a huge letdown. I think in that price class you could mold a piece of plastic to look as cool as promised...

other than that, the car is quite good looking, one of the better looking BMWs lately

From head-on the front bumper doesn't seem to look too bad, the main lines more or less match what would be expected. But from a 3/4 angle the lack of depth of the three air intakes becomes apparent, contrary to most other M models which have a pretty deep 3D effect that provides a menacing gaping mouth look. On the M8 however it seems very flat and uninspired. Let's hope it's mostly due to the poor lighting, but even so, those carbon L-shapes (most certainly gloss black on the stock model) that cover one third of the side air intakes really take away from the gaping shark mouth / flaring nostrils effect.

Agreed. Somehow feels like a 7 series bumper to me. Too tame...

But the interior seems to sport real CF. This looks so much better than the M5

In Europe they are doing exclusive invites to see upcoming models.
The M8 and The M8 Competition, join X3M and X4M as well as the new 8 Convertible,X7 and The 7 LCI. And also the G20 330i and G21 M3er Touring.
A separate preview is for the BMW 1er.
This will probably happen in the US but without the G21 and 1er.
This is where The M8 Competition was from.

Interior detail was way better then any other BMW I ever owned and the seats was sporty yet comfortable. The M8 and 840d was in separate rooms so not possible to do a side by side comparison, but I think that the 840d will be mistaken for an M8 since its stance is really aggressive.
1. Was the M8 you saw at the event the regular M8 or the M8 competition?
2. Also did the M8 you saw have all those carbon fiber parts on the front bumper/air dam or were they body colored like on the M5?

I like it, at least when compared to that horrendous new 3er! Did they really have to put THE in front of M8 on the press photos license plate though?

The Bayerische Motoren Werke branded models are identified as THE. To outline BMWs upper luxury tier.
Such as: THE 7,THE 8,THE M8 and THE X7. With More to follow.

As much as I would like to see it, I think he would have said G8X if it were a true slip.
