People in the US and Canada are generally just very poor drivers, because the driving tests are so ridiculously easy, people are 'learning' to drive at 15 and getting stuck with juvenile and ignorant habits, they don't learn to drive in a standard so know nothing about control of the car, and vehicles are generally large and more insulated from the road. Sorry, rant over.

This doesn't happen very often in L.A., but when it does I really take notice and appreciate it. I always try to give a friendly wave to those who are obviously being good drivers. I noticed I see more of this as you get away from the city. Probrably 'cause there are less people in a big hurry, dunno... Anyway I just wanted to give a little positive reinforcement and say thanks to all you good drivers out there!! Thanks!

That is definitely rare in southern california. . . Pretty much non existant.
