Rear diff leak, any ideas?

Hello, I’ve recently noticed I have a lot of leak on the rear differential, anyone ever encounter this?

I’ve did some search and came up to this:

Anyone else thinks this is the cause?

Clean the area with brake cleaner. Re-check area.

That being said, there appears to be much moisture. Check for loose bolts. Also, check the shaft seals.

dont be lazy, take the shields off.

Check the front and sides to see if it is leaking from any of the seals. Those are the most likely places for it to leak.

No experience with BMW diff leaking. But the front diff leaked on my 996 Turbo. Turned out to be the axle flange seals.

As has been suggested clean the diff thoroughly with brake cleaner. If you can remove the shields first.

After the diff is clean drive the car for a while then back home on your driveway back car onto ramps and with a bright light look over the diff.
