Road &Track M850i GC Review
This hit my news feed today... https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-car...t-wants-to-be/
The reviewer seems to be stuck on the fact that just because the GC has four doors he keeps comparing it against a 750i. At least in my mind, two very different cars and different purposes so I doubt many buyers will cross shop the two. Case-in-point I didn't even consider a 750i as I was looking for luxury with sportiness vs pure luxury. Obviously I was in the market for a coupe and as discussed in a separate thread we all pretty much agree that for pure luxury in that segment the S Coupe is the winner. Laughed at "even M850i coupes on summer tires don't feel engaging" as that is obviously not the case with mine on Pirelli P-Zeros. The MT Laguna Seca run does not call out the tires but they are obviously stock summer and if not the Pirelli's but a Michelin variant Randy found the car pretty damn engaging. Yeah, that was a seriously dumb comparison upon which to base judgements. Coming next: "The M850i and a Tuna Fish Sandwich. One is a car; the other has a very clear purpose."

First "bad" review I've seen.I definitely disagree!I'm older- have owned 5 BMW's before this, starting with 77 530i.Includes 4 7's.In my and others opinion BMW had lost their way a bit with the bigger sedans. My last was an 06 7-a great driving big car. After that switched back to S Class's.Was getting a little bored and was looking for a different driving experience.I found it with the Gran Coupe!Never thought I'd be back in a BMW.Drove a 2020 740i as loaner.Didn't particularly like the air suspension or steering. For right now, feel I made the right decision.Took a drive yesterday on I-68.It was rock solid in the big sweepers, taking a set and tracking like a rocket sled. Fun!!Sometimes think these mag writers must get bored to.Think this guy got it wrong.

Your experience with the 7-series speaks volumes as you owned them and actually drove them day-to-day. The mag writers on the other had get them for a few days or if lucky for a long-term road test. In this case it was just a few days and based on my M850i coupe experience he got it all wrong.

I laughed out loud on the "coming next" as one of my all time favorite REO Speedwagon albums is "You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish".
