M8 convertible to M4 Competiton
![]() Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The local BMW dealer has the car now for the third time. They are now certain it is a faulty radar sensor. Woulda been the first thing I checked. I have $800 sunk into the first two visits. They will give me a discount on the labor to install the new sensor. I love the car, and common sense dictates I put the $ into it and hold on to it. It checks all the boxes for me. Unique appearance, comfortable interior, great stereo (B&W), and lots of power. But, and there is always a but, the dealership has a 2025 M4 Competiton with less than 5k miles on the lot. In Dranit grey wouldn’t ya know it, with an interior color in leather similar to my M8. It is a sweet looking ride. Not as much power as the M8, but still a rocket. I’ll get in the M4 for a test drive next week. I doubt I’ll be wowed enuff to make the switch, but ya never know until ya find out. They just dropped the price on the M4 to around $85k and since it is a CPO and a 2025 there should be lots of time left on the warranty. I do have a warranty on the M8 but it is not very comprehensive and runs out next year. At this point the annoyance with the M8 gave me a nudge to look around. I sat in but did not drive a 2025 MB SL63. It was nice (Ive had 4 of them) but all the controls were either on the steering wheel (I did not count but must have been a dozen buttons, dials, thumbscrews and gizmos) or on the touch screen. I hate relying on a touch screen while I’m driving. Not sure this is likely, but has anyone out there gone from an M8 to an M4 Competiton? There is a low probability I’ll do this, but in data gathering mode. Slainte, Mitch https://www.caseyauto.com/inventory/...AaAjw2EALw_wcB |

Id like to know if theres a way to disable / program out the annoying gongs. I had something similar due to very HOT summer days. A couple people said that the front camera disables at a certain temp? I dont know, Im waiting to see if it happens from now until next summer. Whats with these fn gongs man !? We should be able to silence it for the entire drive. I tell ya, for a luxury car, theres some stupid shit they can easily rectify.

M3 or 4 are awesome cars
I have an M8 coupe had an M8gc. Daughter has an M3. The difference in speed is almost not noticeable. The M3 handles better because of the weight. The M3 is more in your face. It feels like it is fast. The M8 is very fast but the experience is more refined, quieter. I really do not think you can go wrong with either one.
I have spent 4 days at Thermal with 2,3,4 and 5s. Also spent 5 days in Sweden on the ice in the 2 and 3. They are all really capable in their own way. If you don’t like the look of the 3 or 4, the 5 and 8 are your best bet. |

We have G80 in addition to our M8 and the difference is quite noticeable, especially in the level of finishes. M8 is in fact so much more car. G80 is less refined and as one stets "more in your face". It is however refreshing due to its nimbleness and lighter steering.

Owner of an 2015 M4 convertible. I am lurking on this forum as I am thinking about my next car. I look at what is out there and it difficult for me to view any car from any manufacturer as a step up from a F83 (outside of a supercar), except for possibly one, the M8.
