530e Ceasing Production?
I have heard that the 330e will cease production July 2018 (at least in europe) due to the new WLTP tests.
http://wltpfacts.eu/when-will-wltp-changes-take-place/ Will the same fate apply to the 530e? How does it affect us current drivers? I presume BMW will make a different 530e to accommodate the new rules (540e?) Last edited by jukkha156; 02-20-2018 at 08:34 AM.. |

I think BMW is committed to these models in the long run, so yes.
I wish they would make a 540e with the larger turbo charged 4 and a 50-60 mile e-only range, combined with a power management system that would allow the electric motor to add to performance in Sport mode. That’s what I would expect from a performance brand like BMW. The current 530e is a disappointment in that respect. I would be a pefect buyer for it, but am totally not interested in it because they missed the boat on how to combine the powertrains for performance mode. |

North America is unaffected as the 530e complies with all rules. BMW will cease sales of the 530e in Europe until they revise the current engine to comply with environmental regulations.
