What car to get?!!?

I am having way to much trouble deciding on a car to get. I was like 100% on 2010 mustang gt , until i drove it today and i was thoroughly disappointed. I always liked 335i , but lately to me its gotten boring ,but that may change if i had one of my own. 335 would be Used though... I always had a little piece of my heart that loved Evo's n wrx's etc. But the newer models don't really get me going, plus id rather NOT sacrifice EVERYTHING for performance.. I don't mind getting a lightly used car, or even a few years old as long as its really clean. I can spend up to 30k. Anyone have some good suggestions.

I'd avoid an eliminated brand unless you like owning assets with uncertain resale values.

Resale is the only issue. Parts will still be plentiful.

I've got an easy one:

Terminator ('03/'04) Cobra.

Comfort is better than you'd expect, bullet proof reliable, aftermarket support that puts BMW to shame (coming from that world, the price of a muffler from Dinan made me ).

Believe it or not, chassis control is superior to the 3er. Steering feel might not be QUITE as good, depending on your preference. It gives great feedback, a bit heavier. It makes the car feel more raw, but less light on it's feet. Doesn't weigh that much more than a 3 series, interior room is similar, and the seats are very comfortable and very supportive. The interior is not as pretty as a BMW, and the suspension is much more performance oriented rather than comfort oriented, as in a BMW. It will be harsher over bumps.

It will run mid/high 12s@110-112 out of the box, high 11s with DRs and CAI/Catback. If you spend the cost of a Procede (1,000), Catless DPs (1,000) and an FMIC (1,000) you will have a car that will comfortably run low 11s in the mid/high 120s with ~500rwhp.

Dig a little deeper, and you can easily have a car that makes 650rwhp and comfortably runs 10s, while being daily drivable and reliable.

Having owned an 03 Cobra, I think a BPU car making ~500rwhp on street gas is a wonderful DD. Pick your exhaust wisely. I had Bassani catless X Pipes and Bassani Catback, and it sounded unreal, but droned unbearably on the highway.

Wow . Thank you so much for taking time to make that reply. That was a car i always thought was really unique and STILL catches my eye on the road. I never actually thought about getting one though, but im glad you brought it to my attention. And to the others that said camaro. Im not really loving that car as much as everyone else. Transformers made it look better then it is....

this also makes complete sense to me... only downside to 335 is its going to be used and i have to worry about problems , going out of warranty in a year and a half. I probably wont purchase certified pre owned because , the dealerships just ask way to much money for their cars.

Im exactly the same way!! If I had enough $ to buy a lambo and if I looked and researched them for a year. by the time I bought one it wouldn't seem half as cool anymore...Still cool.. but not as much..
How much can you spend?

If you want something like the 335i, try the new 2009/2010 benz C350... slower, but the interior is much nicer , and it drives almost as well as a BMW when you turn on the sport suspension (it's electronically controlled, you can choose comfort mode when your tired after a long day, and sport when you wanna pull some fast corners )

I can spend around 30k. But yeah cars get boring way to fast to me lol. 335i is all around best car i'm looking at , but part of me wants that unique , rare, kind of car. But they just aren't out their at these prices. and if they are there's always some sacrifices to make.

If you want rare and unique, it is definitely the Saturn Astra! If you want fast, G8 GT. Those two vehicles especially the Astra have sold in little numbers, but are good cars.

Anything rare is going ot be hard to find parts or a dealer..and if your a strict budget of $30,000 you probably shouldn't be looking at extremely rare cars. You can buy plenty of 335i sedans for $30,000. and decent amount of coupes with 30,000+

Go test drive one.

Most people who think "straight line only" would be amazed. It's a very functional GT, if you don't mind the appearance and material quality of the interior.

Considered an E46 M3?

All the good points of a 335i from a practical perspective, but much, much, much more fun to drive, and more of a head-turner.

If you generally like everything about the 335i, but want something more "unique" and a touch more sporty, check out the Volvo S60R.

I owned one, fantastic sports sedan, and highly under-rated. IMHO, it accomplishes perfectly what it set out to: absolute exceed any sports sedan of equal or lesser price, and give the S4 and M3 a good run for their money for 10k+ less. It has a slick electronically controlled 3-mode suspension (like the one the E90 M3 just got), good all around performance, decent potential for tuning, and what is one of the very best interiors in ANY car.

Pristine examples can be had for much less than $30k

Only handling weakness is steering feel. Body control is excellent, as is precision and response.

The sound system is good enough to deserve a paragraph unto itself. Easily the match for any car stereo system I have ever heard, including the Mark Levinsson Pro systems from Lexus.

Seats are perfect. Incredibly comfortable, very supportive, supple leather, perfectly shaped.

With a chip it's comparable to a 335i/E46 M3 in terms of power. However, if you're looking for a car that's easy to tune to the point where 120mph trap speeds are a reality, it's not a wise choice.

Another one worth considering.
