I know what you mean about the knocking on near or full lock in the cold. I was quite alarmed when it first happened so I posted a thread about it on this forum - seems it's quite common with these tyres.
Any particular reason why you're going for the Hankooks? Just had a look on Auto Express and whilst the performance figures are middling, they're the quietest of the bunch and that could swing it for me. Tyre roar on the Bridgestones is horrible.
